Mesa 7i95t connection to Thermal Dynamics 60i

Category: Plasma & Laser

Hi,

I'm converting a Crossfire Pro to LinuxCNC using a Mesa 7i95t and THCAD2.  I have the automation interface card in the cutmaster 60i so it has the torch start/stop, voltage divider, ok to move, and ohmic sensing on the CPC connector.  I'm still waiting for the THCAD2 to come in but the wiring for it seems pretty straight forward.  I've attached the wiring diagram from the service manual and I'm not quite sure if I can just wire the start/stop directly to a 7i95t output or if I need to use a relay.  If I understand the qtplasmac docs I should be able to connect the ok to move directly to an input but may need a resistor if the current draw isn't enough.  I may hook up ohmic later but would I need another THCAD2 for it as well?

Thanks,

Kevin

I wanted to say that there is a new Modbus interface: hm2_modbus
available for all Mesa cards, and that fixes a lot of the issues with mesa-modbus.
hm2_modbus needs the latest snapshot of 2.9.4 or master. and may require
a firmware upgrade to at least V2 PktUART.

It adds the ability to have multiple devices on the same RS-485 interface,
device initialization/setup code that only runs once, plus many bug fixes.
Its been running a 25IOC32_PNP for a more than a week now with 0 issues.

The configuration file has a different format (XML) than mesa-modbus.
This format is documented in the mesambccc man page ( mesambccc is
the hm2_modbus configuration file compiler)

Happy to provide any info when I get up and running. I'll post the sys specs and latency tests when I can.

Cool. M710q works fine. Have one in a router installed. Can give you the grub infos for the first test.

Just for information. Have also a M2 to realtek nic installed in the m710q which runs stable 2 kHz servo thread. But that isnt necessary. The internal intel nic runs 1 kHz with ease.

Hi guys
I want to connect two MPGs to the encoder inputs of the 7i73
My MPG has A+A-B+B- OV5V e and use two analogue inputs.
To do this, I'll have to use mode 1 on the 7i73 board
Has anyone configured this board in encoder+analogue mode?
Thanks

Thanks, you put my mind at ease. I ordered a refurbished ThinkCentre M710q last night and got the MESA card ordered. Now I have a table to build while I wait for the hardware.

How to refresh the Axis screen after setting offsets G10 L20

Category: AXIS

I use M codes for this kind of stuff also. For example M130.

github.com/hausen8/EasyProbe/blob/v2.0/nc_files/M130

Use with:
M130 P255

I am not sure right know, but I had something in mind while writing  "&".
Also some sleeps are always a good idea. Sometimes it gets lost otherwise.

Best regards
Julian

Thank you so much for your hints and ideas!
Yes the optidrive should stay in my setup - at least for the next months. The switch to ethercat, the new servos aso was hard enough to afford. As you mentioned before usb to rs485 is an option, I will go that way until I will be able to spend the next bucks for an ethercat VFD.
