I too am having trouble with the ethercat install. Looks like the issue is very similar to Evgeny. I am able to see the ethercat slaves at this point but when I try to interact with lcec_conf it errors. I searched the computer and cannot find lcec_conf anywhere.

Hi. If you figure out how I can send you 10GB of data, I can send you an acronis image of my system, the drivers are already installed and the configuration runs. But I can't set up homing yet.

As a noob, I was happy to get this far with the help from chatgpt. But now I am stuck. Any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback.
However this is actually likely a case of 'it's not a bug but a feature' as the slash lets the operator activate/deactivate the cutter radius compensation using optional block delete:

Question to operatingspeed glassscales with Beckhoff/EtherCAT under Linux CNC

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Good day,
I would like to carry out a retrofit on a Maho with Philips 432 control and would like to use the original glass scales as well as many other old parts of the electronics.
It should be possible to evaluate the glass scales with components from Beckhoff e.g. EL5101.
My questions are:
1.can Linux CNC process this evaluation and use it to realize the control loop to the axis controllers of the servo motors?
2. is the Beckhoff controller fast enough to carry out the evaluation in real time?
3. is it possible to calculate the maximum traversing speed above which the processing speed is no longer sufficient to work in real time?
I hope you can help me here!
Thank you very much

Guten Tag,
Danke

Building a chain driven Plasma table.

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Hi to all so I am back after a ling break.
And I finally could start building my plasma table.
So far I got the tandem axis running which I chose to be the X axis.
Homing and everything Is running fine.
I also was able to Calibrate the Axis movement to within 2mm per 2 meters.
Dont have anything accurate to measure the movement except a tabe measure.
What is still have to do is to find out how much acceleration the Stepper motors can handle.
When i use the Motor tuning option in pnconfig. Only one of the motors is moving.
Is there a way to make both motors to move at the same time?

So far i use acceleration of 1000 and maximum Speed of 15000mm / min.
Seems to be running well without loosing steps.

What acceleration should I try to reach for good plasma cutting?

Modbus VFD startup delay?

Category: Basic Configuration

There are probably ways to start the modbus component and the associated hal file through a custom Mcode but I don't see how you would be able to restart the modbus connection after an estop event.
It seems that this should really be handled in the modbus component itself.

5 Axis configuration on linuxcnc

Category: Advanced Configuration

Hello, nice work.

I'm installing a 5 axis XYZBC machine driven by a berak out with a parallel port --> I want to switch to an ethernet port and raspberry pi 4. I want to add position sensor feedback at least on the B&C axes.
I'm trying to install linuxcnc 2.9.3 on my raspberry Pi 4 under raspbian. Impossible to compile/install the RT patch . see that you have a version “Linux pi 6.6.44-rt39 #1 SMP PREEMPT_RT Mon Aug 12 21:10:13 AEST 2024 aarch64 GNU/Linux” .
Can you help me with this installation?

Thanks for your help

The homing mode is described in the servo manual in section 5.5.4 on page 195. I have studied it but I still don't understand what settings I have to change to make it work.

The latency and ping tests look fine.

Momentary power loss could definitely cause loss of communications/latency

Also I am assuming you are running a 1 ms (1000000 ns)
servo thread, as a too fast servo  thread might also cause these symptoms

Latency test value screen shot attached, ran with 10 GLXgear and one 4k movie for 2 hour.

As I am noway an expert of these parameters, are they ok?

And one thing I noticed, the monitor goes blank sometimes for a moment, probably power issue. Now can such momentary power issue to CPU and MESA card create problem? Or could there be any issue with software download (and installation) as I had such issue before.

Proposed removal of 'gscreen/silverdragon' simulation config in master

Category: Other User Interfaces

There is discussion about removing the 'sim.gscreen.silverdragon' simulation config in master as it fails on load with Gtk related errors on current debian bookworm installations as well as RIP installation of both 2.9.x and master.
So, if anybody has actually managed to run the 'sim.gscreen.silverdragon' simulation config in 2.9.x please drop a note. github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/issues/3094
Thanks
