Hi Rod,
Thank you for the leg up on the development environment. I've spent a chunk of time with it.
Should I use this forum thread to have conversations or would somewhere else be better?

I think starting a new thread would cause less confusion, generally it's a tool not required for the average user, and it helps to a have a good working knowledge of Linux, Linuxcnc and practical experience with the RPi platform. Oh and a bit of patience depending on the hardware one has access to.
I would of the opinion that too many images floating around could cause confusion, so generally once I have built and tested an image I tend to limit access to the created images.
These are just my thoughts on the matter.

I just accidentally swapped the 24v output port on one of my RTelligent Drivers for the drive-stepper input ports and blew up at least one of the 6 stepper outputs (likely two) on my 7i95T.
Once I get past suicidal thoughts I will shift all my joints over to check the possibly that I may have only blown two step-gens. Each pair of two step-gens share the IC that smoked so I'm betting 0 and 1 are gone but if 2-5 are still viable I might be able to limp along and continue to make some progress on the router which is XYYZ configuration.
Ironically, I was just going back through all the wiring straightening it all out and zip-tying everything. I just happened to swap two identically looking plugs and poof 'magic smoke'.
Bit of trivia... the digital aspects of the 7i95 seem to have remain unharmed. Led's report no errors on start and LinuxCNC connects right up and thinks nothings wrong.
Worse than the cost, it took me six weeks to get that board from Mesa, so I Guess I had better order a new one before Trump's Tariff plans kick in.

If you did not cause more extensive damage, you (or someone local with the right equipment)
should be able to replace the ISL32174 that's fried...

Apparently you can buy Raspberry Pi 5 kits that don't offer access to the SD card...
I'm aiming to build from released sources and load it up.
%lost interest: If you think I should switch to another thread for questions please just let me know where/how.
Thanks,
Tom

Just start a new thread that is quite easy.
Have you a link to the kits that "don't offer access to the SD card" ?
As far as I have been able to see there has been no major hardware updates to the RPi5. Or are you referring to the ability to boot from NVME ?
When claims like that are made it would be nice to provide a link, it's rather frustrating for someone to mention something like that with no references, as this would be a major shake up for the RPi platform.

I think there has been a lot of improvement under the hood including making the 6.12 kernel available. But yeh, not something you can really see.As far as I have been able to see there has been no major hardware updates to the RPi5. Or are you referring to the ability to boot from NVME ?

Just got info from 2 suppliers that there are 16GB RPi 5 for sale. No mention of any other hardware updates.

I just thought it was a little ironic as I posted about not being able to find any reference to any major hardware changes.
