Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Yes, I'm also studying, but I couldn't get any pulse, as if I wasn't responding, could you confirm if the version you made available would be the same one you used for your studies? because in tests, even in studies, I was not successful with any pulse even if they were at a low frequency.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hi all, hi scotta,
I reflashed my EC500 with the newest firmware to check if the NVMPG now works.
After reflashing LinuxCNC doesn't connect anymore. The EC500 doesn't respond to pings either.
I wanted to erase the EC500 to reflash it from new, but erase doesn't work anymore.
Issuing this command:
pyocd erase --target mimxrt1050_quadspi --mass
returns this error message:
0000718 C No ACK received [__main__]
I use a DAP Link btw.

I flashed the newest firmware to a second EC500, and now this one seems to bricked also.
I can't erase nor re-flash both of them anymore.
How can I un-brick them?

regards, hanskuster

I'd resort back to MCUXpresso. When I've had trouble with bad firmware / flashing I've been able to recover the board by powering on while the probe is trying to connect.

Thanks so much for the help!!!!

I cannot believe I am having this much of a problem... this will be the 3rd CNC system I have built... the first in linuxcnc but that shouldn't make this much of a difference...

I figure I have done something dumb or I have a defective piece of hardware.

You guys are saints.
I often wonder if some people should use anything more complicated than a knife & fork.

Error in documentation, several minor additions

Category: LinuxCNC Documents

linuxcnc.org/docs/master/html/code/building-linuxcnc.html
Until section 4.2 the working directory is "linuxcnc-source-dir" and that is a nice change, but from then on it refers to the old naming "linuxcnc-dev" in the copy/paste parts.
-
docs.google.com/document/d/1jeV_4VKzVmOI...ading=h.9yat9yuit8mp
If refers to using Geany that is not included with BookWorm, but it is with our version, so would not hurt to mention that if geany can not be found to install it with sudo apt install geany.

Same document a bit lower, add --show to latency histogram, it shows the excursions outside of the visible boundaries that are always, always ignored when checking latency as they are represented with very thin colored lines at the very edges of the graphs, so
latency-histogram --nobase --sbins 1000 --show

Finish StepConf, save, start the config and try to move the machine.
StepConf is a wizard, and very good at what it does, but it can not account for every hardware variant/version/setup out there.
Also, if you have drive enable wired, disconnect them till you get the machine moving, then you can wire and test enable.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

One question, I'm studying the Remora-EC500-DMAstepgen, but I don't have any signal of pulses, could you tell me if in your tests, you were able to pulse the motors with DMA and this configuration? If so, could you tell me why this configuration is not happening? github.com/scottalford75/Remora-EC500-DMAstepgen

That repo is only for sharing of development work done on the STM32 for a DMA stepgen. The algorithm and DMA works but the STM32 was not fast enough to generate the step patterns. The only working DMA stepgen in for the RT1052 based boards.
