LitexCNC: firmware and driver for 5A-75B and 5A-75E

Category: Driver Boards

It is normal for the position to change when you close the program.  That's why we have homing or motors with an absolute multi-turn encoder so that linuxcnc can know the new position.  It may be only a few microns, but the position is changing. this is the enabling signal on my drivers.
If the signal is missing the motor will not move.

You have to be careful here. I have a 12v/5v Meanwell power supply (in a frame) that is useless for this because the 5v side needs a load on it for the 12v side to work. The required load far exceeds the power draw of a Mesa card. It was suggested I add a ceramic resistor but the generated heat and power consumption made me scrap the idea. Seperate 24v and 5v DIN rail based power supplies are compact, less risky and much easier.

As fas as steppers are concerned, 48 volts is much better (if supported by your drivers) so you really end up needing 3 power supplies.

Yep.  If you want a multi-voltage PSU to keep it all in one package, the RS should be the ticket.

I've got one of their triples (5/12/24) running in a plasma.

Hi all again I am glad to say I have made so progress getting my Hy_gt_VFD working thanks to COFHAL's help.  I can now talk to the VFD without errors, but it still will not run the Spindle. I am hoping someone can figure out what I have wrong or missing.  here are my setup files.  when try to manually run the spindle by clicking the forward or review button after I hit stop the spindle tuns a bit then stops. I see the frequency and speed respond for a second in my panel then go back to 0.  Hitting the + button does not work vfdmod pins are showing increasing speed and frequency but not the spindle pins. I think I am close, but I can't figure out where the issue is.

Mesa 5i25t mit 7i77 und 7i74

Category: CNC Machines

Hello, the following configuration does not work for me. The 7i77 card is immediately recognized at P3 and recognized as serial port0.
Unfortunately I get an error message as soon as I try to activate the 7i74 as serial_port1. Map is not accessible.
There is no firmware bit file for this config to describe the 5i25t with mesaflash.

Does anyone have advice for me?

rodw post=300008 userid=20660There have been a number of reports of people having problems with USB/phone chargers.
I would stick to a Meanwell MDR-10-5 (2 amp) or a bit higher... DIN rail mount or similar.

I was hopping to get away with a single PSU for the system, control boards and step drivers.

So a RS style Meanwell would also work?

Unfortunately, the Machinekit forum seems dead (tumble weeds and all)
A lot of great code infrastructure that would have improved LinuxCNC seems lost
