The end of my business. Parts up for Auction

Category: User Exchange

I have been a fairly quiet member here for some years and have been using Mesa boards for 20 years. My hobbies and interests have been joined at the hip with my business for 33yrs. Unfortunately it is time to close-up (thanks to HII Newport News Shipbuilding). Everything I and my business have acquired is now up for auction. I am hoping to pay off my debts and using epay or an auction co. would suck all the money out of it. So we have been building our own auction site at our 25 year old domain https:/lansingmachine.com   We are still working out a few things like shipping and alternate means of payment but we have items listed now. There will be (I hope) a lot more listed soon. I have new and used servo drives and motors, PLCs, HMI panels, you name it. Oh and 36 Mesa boards new and used.

WEMAS MT 32 CNC Lathe -> LinuxCNC - Mesa or EtherCAT?

Category: Turning

I'm currently taking my first steps with an S120, but SIEMENS isn't making it easy for me. Right now, there are a lot of other priorities, so I hardly have any time to tinker. Whenever I find a spare five minutes, I either clean up a bit or start working on modifying or assembling the casing. I'm also testing alternatives for the missing limb guard. For now, I'm using feeler gauge material to see how it goes; I might end up buying a guard or a bellows from a good supplier in China.

Additionally, I'm continuing to work on the control panel. I'm having a lot of fun with the initial tests of the keypad, and I think it’s going to be really practical. I might even consider getting something similar as an addition to the handwheel on my FP3.

OK, T43 is i686
screenshot from latency attached for the 2 others.
I did run glxgears and a youtube video. The max. µs Value was half until I resized the glxgears window.

Well there is my favored refurbished dealer, offering T470 with touchscreen and 8GB RAM for 137,- EUR right now. might be the best idea..

Really basic G-Code question ....How to change DRO value?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Let's say the current position is 0,0,0 (I'm at the origin) the machine is homed, and I want the machine to now think it's at 5, 0, 0

I imagine there is a gcode command to allow me to do this, so that the Axis DRO, changes from 0,0,0 to 5, 0, 0

Probe basic lathe config

I had overlooked that line. Now everything is working.

I'd like to take this opportunity to ask you a question. I have a rotary encoder installed on the lathe for thread cutting, and my question is: is it necessary for Probe Basic to have a graphical rpm count in the interface for thread cutting? I'm not sure I explained myself correctly.
I still need to add the encoder and limit switches to the hal file.

Thank you for the compliments!

I have had pretty much the whole machine apart, and I had a few oil ports that were full of gunk as well. But those are all cleaned and open now. I did also open one of the metering valves in the past, and from my recollection it looked very similar to the photo you attached. And it does measure a certain amount every time the pump operates. The bubbles move a certain distance and then stop even if the pump is still running.

I made my own lubricator component, because I did not find anything else I liked. I have attached the component here, even though it is not 100% finished. It works much like you outlined. It runs the pump until the pressure switch activates, then runs the pump for 10 more seconds before it switches off. If it doesn't get the pressure feedback within 60 seconds it turns off and prints and error message. It runs the pump at first motion of the machine, and after that every time it has "accumulated" 10 min of motion.

To the best of my recollection, the bubbles move when the pump starts, and not when it turns off. But I am now travelling and unable to verify.

Thank you for the information. And if it's not too much trouble, it would be interesting to see the Vogel manual as well.

Unfortunately it's been like this for a while. We've all just to learnt to work with, editing is the biggest headache, the editor messes up the tags. Not much help I know but it is what it is.

How to install/select QtDragon?

OK found it. Not sure why it wasn't showing before but I now see a section called 'Sample Configurations'. Inside that is sim -> qtdragon ->qtdragon_xyz->qtdragon_metric. Once selected, it asks if you want to copy over the configuration files. Then it starts in qtDragon mode. No need for any manual copying of files. No need to edit any .ini files.

Hi,

I'm having a lot of issues attempting to reply with quote. Mostly this results in my text ending up inside the quote. It's slightly better using source mode but the problems are still there and prevent being able to post a readable reply. I noticed you are using Kunena-Forum, which I'm told has a lot of issues. Any chance of moving to a different platform for the forum? We use Discourse for our Hackspace and it's so much eaiser to use.

LinuxCNC S-Curve Accelerations

Hi,

The iso is based on :  debian-live-12.10.0-amd64-lxqt.iso
This iso is unpacked, filesystem is updated :

new kernel : linux-image-6.1.0-32-rt-amd64 + headers.
codeberg.org/skynet/ethercat-master
codeberg.org/skynet/linuxcnc_scurve_compact
codeberg.org/skynet/linuxcnc-ethercat
codeberg.org/skynet/hal-cia402
+ qtcreator, wine, geany.
+ crontab install to find & set mac adress at startup for the ethercat bus.

Now this will take an hour or 2.
It's repacking the filesystem after it was modified in a chroot environment.
Working in a chroot environment feels a bit like hacking the guts out off linux.

Then repack back to .iso format.
Then test the iso by installing it on a old pc.
We will see what happens.

So far i made a LINUX_DISTRO.md file, to log the steps.

Thanks. That helps.

Aciera wrote: If you are getting errors it is a good idea to share the exact error messages here so there is less guess work involved for people trying to help.

Sure, I appreciate it but unfortunately that is rather difficult as I've not been able to install the guest additions in order to get copy/paste to work.

The problems are all just missing files. All I'm asking for is a simple way to install QtDragon on top of the .iso from the linuxcnc website. It's not there by default in the Configuration Selector so maybe it isn't released yet. If that's the case, I'm happy to wait.

Aciera wrote: Also note the if you just want to have a look there are simulation configs for QtDragon in the configs directory which should work right out of the box.

Could you tell me where? I've not been able to find them.

(Sorry for weird formatting.Quoting seems to be broken. Every time I post, the quote tags get moved around.)

I think you have to create a sim.qtdragon directory. I tried that and copied over the .ini and .hal files from the sim.gmoccapy directory. I also copied the various sub-directories (macros, qtvcp etc.). I can at least start it in qtdragon mode now but it won't run and complains it can't find the sim.qtdragon/qtvcp/screens/qtcnc file.

I founds some comments online that QtDragon is still in the prototype phase and shouldn't be used for production. Is there any truth in this? I was led to believe it was a simple process to switch from gmoccapy to QtDragon but maybe I misunderstood.
