Glade 3.18.3 Doesn't work. Follow this for 3.8.5 or .6 was created by scubawarm
I'm sure I missed something somewhere in all the docs I've read but...
Trying to pull up some of the sample gmoccapy demo screens and not getting anywhere.
Says can't find gladevcp libraries and get a bunch of errors the HAL libraries are depreciated and I need to run 3.8 first.
So is 3.18 not supported which is what is in the package installer?
I need to uninstall it, and look for old code and build from scratch again?
Boy no wonder LinuxCNC is not for the faint of heart. LOL

The custom Glade widgets for Linuxcnc are GTK2 based, and support for GTK2 in Glade ended with version 3.8. This is why you can't edit Linuxcnc Glade screens with versions of Glade > 3.8. This dependency is documented here.

On my Mint install I get Unable to locate package glade-gtk2
Trying to compile it but errors on the dependencies which appear to be met already.

linuxcnc has debs for glade-gtk2:
linuxcnc.org/dists/wheezy/base/binary-i386/
You can see the deb in the list.
This is based on wheezy - there are others:
linuxcnc.org/dists/
You may be able to get it that way.
What version of Mint are you using?

18.1 386
Thanks for the distro link! Plenty of things to try. Going to try the Glade first. Not against starting over. My laptop has issues with the wheezy distro RIP thou.... That's why I resorted to building from source.

I tried a number of things to get glade installed on Mint 17.3 and eventually I got it going. Great to know there is a Linuxcnc specific deb for it.
the executable is called glade-gtk2 and if you are running Linuxcnc from the command prompt as run in place, you need to run the rip-environment script as advised in the documentation otherwise the hal components are not found and will be deleted from your screen designs.

Hey progress! That deb worked for my Mint! I got missing libgladeui, but some thoughtful person had that there too. So installed that first then the glade-gtk2 and presto.
When I fire it off, I get all sorts of warning about missing icons... but none seem to be in the GUI so I don't know. Keep plugging away for now.

You may need to install the rip-environment in your terminal window as I mentioned earlier
www.wiki.eusurplus.com/index.php?title=L...c_.28run_in_place.29
Pay careful attention to the three leading dots. required exactly as shown (space in between . and ..)

I went back and started over...
Installed Mint 18.2 AMD64 with 4.11.12 rt13 patch
linuxcnc-dev
the two DEBS as discussed before.
All seemed well.
BUT now, if I start a new project in glade-gtk2
Add a main window to the project
Add an about window (actually any type of additional window frame)
The application closes promptly, and the terminal window simply shows.
Segmentation fault
Any ideas at all anyone? Bad kernel selection? Or related to glade-gtk2?

Well spent a large amount of time on this.
Started over again on two completely different machines, built kernel 4.8.15-rt10 as 4.8.0.55 is what comes with Mint 18.2 64
Tried it with the DEB
Tried it compiling 3.8.6
All with exactly the same result add two window types and crash. Haven't really tried working with the program, as I can't do the 2nd tutorial on using it for LinuxCNC.
The only thing different is the first time when it worked before the rebuild I was on i386. Guess I will have to try i386 on one of them to see if it behaves any differently.
Guess I have to go back and try
