I would try LinuxCNC to verify the hardware
(and have access to known working tools)

Which pin names are you looking at?

I do most of my card testing at the command line to reduce the variables.
Copy and paste this into the terminal.
Code:
halrun loadrt hostmot2 loadrt hm2_pci loadrt threads addf hm2_5i25.read thread1 addf hm2_5i25.write thread1 start show pin loadusr halshow

Now you can add the input bits to the halshow "watch" tab and see what happens.

Hey Andy
halrun was modified by tormach and is in the ~/tmc/scripts directory. on a stock pathpilot install there seem to be missing files also. in the source they are there but even then I could not get it to work. things like EMC2_HOME is not defined. it can't find linuxcnc_module_helper this is rather i ran rip-environment.sh or not. maybe i'm doing something wrong.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed that this was the Pathpilot section.

I know nothing about Pathpilot.

if you got the live cd you can boot your pathpilot pc from the CD and setup linuxcnc no need to install. just run from the CD
then you can boot between the two setups easy.
