Configuring Plasmac - a complete THC/plasma config for any hardware

OK i don't know what i have done and where my mix up is but i cant get awaw from joint errors. I had working files at one time but that was before i got the plasmac working. I also noticed that my option buttons are missing and i no longer see the halshow button or any of the other buttons. i think something has gotten messed up trying to keep up with the updates. here are my files.

A quick look shows: should be: n being the joint number associated with the Z axis.

Also I don't see any [JOINT_n] sections in your ini file

EDIT: The line starting net plasmac:axis-z-position should be in your machine.hal file, that way it won't be overwritten on updates.
I have noted that in later updates.

If that doesn't work, I will try do them manually for you later on today. In the meantime do an update from the repo so I know what version you are using and can you confirm that your machine has three motors.

I am so lost
I have no idea what a joint is. I never deleted anything just used the files and added my pins. I’m almost to the point where I want to completely format the computer and start over agian from scratch.

every time i update i get this error

If I go into the plasmac.hal I find this is missing any refrence to Z.
but if I change that line to this the error goes away
Am i messing up here by changing this?

For that pin not to exist, it sounds like you are running the standard 2.7 version of linuxcnc.
A joint is a motor and you might have 2 of them on a single axis on a gantry machine...
Joints do not exist in Linux 2.7, only in master branch (2.

When you run linuxcnc from the command line do you see 2.8 showing up on the splash screen or not?

Make sure you are following the commands to set the rip-environment at the very end of the first post.

yes I set the environment first and i do see the the 2.8 on splash and says like pre 1 or some such thing.
