I use 4mm sensing distance.
Avoid 1mm ones, it is very hard to make them work reliably.

I’m not sure I follow what you mean?

Oh, I was referring to this item from the link you sent.

Oh, no, I used the pre-wired cables. I was probably being lazy because 2X the connector price is all but the price of the cable, and I wanted 90° ends for the sensor side...

Wow, now that I look at their prices more carefully they are way cheaper than what I expected. Thanks for the link!

One last question. How did you wire these to your board? Thanks again!

I just followed the schematic in the data sheet for the sensors.

I felt I should follow up on this since I see you are posting that you are wiring up your table.

I had said in an earlier post that I had bought NBN8-12GM50-E0-V1 (NPN) sensors. That's incorrect.

I have NBN8-12GM50-E2-V1 sensors. Which are Normally Open PNP sensors.

If I could do it again, I would get Normally Closed-PNP sensors. (NBN8-12GM50-E3-V1-M1 or similar).

I ended up getting Omron E2B-M12KS04-M1-B1 which are NO PNP.
