That looks to me like the signal from the switch is not making it back to plasmac. It's hard to say without also seeing a video of your screen.
You say the float LED (on the GUI) lights up when you press the float switch?

the picture of your setup shows a switch at z_max, and a float switch.
Use the input # for the Z max as the Z max switch, and the input # for the float switch as float switch.
I am wondering if you have them backward or something.

Yes, the indicator on the screen does change to yellow any time the switch is made. No flickering or bouncing.

I have a home switch up at the top and the float switch on the free linear guide rail holding the torch head.
It homes using the home switch, and the float switch triggers the indicator on screen and the correct input led on the 7i96 card, as does the home switch.

Well i'll be damned, using a picatinny rail to hold a torch, that is new!
Check the connections hal file, something might be amiss there.
BTW, the only i switch i can see on that picture that is properly mounted is the floating one, the rest are gona break very fast and very often if not re-positioned.
And if you never fired the torch till now, please do not fire it before changing all the wiring, use shielded cables, use connectors or solder the wires.

I meant to mention the rail too, clever use!
Trusting what you're saying about the GUI LEDs, I'm not sure I can think of an obvious reason it shouldnt work.

These two need to be the same.
This:should be twice the value of this:
The Probe Feed Rate of 60 may be too low to allow motion, try 300~400.
[AXIS_Z] MAX_LIMIT = 70.00
[JOINT_3] MAX_LIMIT = 100.00
This:
# set to double the value in the corresponding joint
[AXIS_Z] MAX_ACCELERATION = 1000.0
[JOINT_3] MAX_ACCELERATION = 750.0
The Probe Feed Rate of 60 may be too low to allow motion, try 300~400.

Yes, the cables will be routed in cable track.
Yes, I had the rail left over from some other project and the ring on it fit the torch head, plans include this mount being break-away.
By the way, there is no way, i'm triggering this plasma cutter until everything is functioning. The probing is being a bugger at the moment.
I tried a fresh pncconf configuration leaving out the z-max and only entering it in the plasmac configurator, but I get real similar results.
Not sure what to attempt next.

Both the LED on screen and the input LED on the 7i96 light when and only when the floating switch is tripped. Yes I need to mount the limits differently, but I may move to proximity switches once the functions work.I meant to mention the rail too, clever use!

Did you try changing the probe speed?
