50 to 1 voltage divider from the hyper therm unit. I dont know how to zip the files i tried to follow a tutorial online just now and was unsuccessful, are there specific files from m config that you need?

hopefully i did tis right i had to create it from a terminal there was no option when i right clicked.

I don't see this in your hal file:
setp hm2_7i96.0.encoder.00.scale -1
setp hm2_7i96.0.encoder.00.filter 1
setp hm2_7i96.0.encoder.00.counter-mode 1
Put it in plasma2.hal after:
addf hm2_7i96.0.write         servo-thread

ive tried to add it there multiple times however it will not let me. i have added it through the hal show function while i have my machine open. is there a different way to add it?

What do you mean by "won't let you"?

Normally you would just edit the file with a text editor. (NOT a Windows one)

I can open the file in a text editor but it won’t just let me save the file it creates a new file as a .txt. And I’ve tried to remove the old file and rename the new to the same name and .hal as the old but it won’t open

ok thank you! now i have added those lines temporarily while my machine was open and that when i get the wild voltage readings, could the way i was adding them in there been the problem? and with the machine sitting idle before any arc is initiated shouldn't it be reading 0 volts?

Without knowing the actual errors you were getting, I don't know...

Yes, but you will need to restart LinuxCNC for those lines to take effect. The HAL files are only read once on startup.
