By LED do you mean this?

Or do you mean a physical LED?

At the moment I don't have any real life components. I plan to have P15 as the input, a 5v power from the BOB, and relays that open and close that circuit to prevent arc voltage from frying the BOB.

The yellow circle is always on.

Yes, yellow shows the LED as on. You need to connect the ohmic probe to in-not rather than in.

See 1.2 here linuxcnc.org/docs/2.4/html/hal_parallel_port.html

The error is gone. Thank you. Now I can't get the probe to trip. is 5v into P15 enough juice? The enable is actuating a relay just like I planned.

I "think" with parports you need to pull them down to 0V.

Someone who knows more about that than me may chime in...

In that event the ohmic sensor should trip when hooked to ground. Correct?

You may need to run HalShow so you can check the parport pins. If you use Watch on the required pins you will be ble to see them activate.

I'm looking at plasmac.ohmic-probe and also parport.0.pin-15-in-not.
both of them are red no matter what.

So the parport is not seeing the signal. Are you using a ground signal from the parport?
