New Configuration Error
I don't think that will cause any issues, the pid component is still loaded and I am not keen on making too many changes to ini files. Not sure if it matters, but the following line slipped through the cracks under the spindle section:
setp pid.s.error-previous-target true
I am sure if there was a checkbox then everyone would use it correctly like they do to prevent the spindle stuff being included originally. While I bring that up, should we comment out the maxerror lines in the .hal as well for stepper systems (I think this was just a stepper thing)? There could be a check box in the configurator for stepper vs servo system.
If it was a stepper system, we'd comment out the following lines (the only 4 with "maxerror" in them):setp pid.x.maxerror .0005 setp pid.y.maxerror .0005 setp pid.y2.maxerror .0005 setp pid.z.maxerror .0005

Since the spindle stuffs is already in the user guide, should we mention the maxerror lines in the user guide at least then as well?

I think thats a linuxcnc thing not a plasmac thing. We should not duplicate any content (if indeed its mentioned anywhere). Possibly pncconf should be taught to do it properly...

In all seriousness I'm happy to do it, I just don't know exactly what the error is? maxerror line showing up in stepper systems? or...?
