That isn't the most recent version in my repo.
When did you setup the repos ?
Have you updated the key from the keyserver as that has changed.
All the ~pre1 packages are no longer in the repo, only the 2.8.0 release is there.

I used these .. I'll try again tomorrow calmly.
strange that it gives an error like i386 but it is 64 bit
Import the key:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys C9F836336AAD909E
Add the source:
sudo add-apt-repository 'deb cnc.beaglebrainz.net/mintcnc/ bionic 2.8-rtpreempt'

The packages on my repo are all 64 bit.
Aptget update will mention that there are no 32 bit packages
The repo is good for 64 bit, I test it to make sure it works.

If this is the messageAll that it is saying is that the repo doesn't support i386 and as you are on a 64 bit system, as that is what the kernel is, it is not an issue.
So you are good to update. I did it on my main machine last night.
N: Skipping acquire of configured file '2.8-rtpreempt/binary-i386/Packages' as repository 'http://cnc.beaglebrainz.net/mintcnc bionic InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'
