Yes, jogging Z+ should increase the DRO and Z should move up.

Reply after trying with reversed Z
I just tried with reversed Z direction so Z Jog+ is travel- now it won't Home because it move away (down) from its home (fully up position). I double checked Z home/limit switch (at top of travel) and Z Max limit (at bottom of travel ) via Hal Watch and they are OK.

You may need to set the scale to negative and the search velocity and latch velocity to positive

Hi Phil - thanks for hanging in there with me on this one.
Will investigate and try as you suggest -
Is there something unique or wrong with my setup that would require those type of changes. This machine is basically the same as an earlier one I built but switched over to an Rpi4. I'll go back and check the older machines ini and hal because I'm quite curious and still learning but don't think I've run across negative scale and positive search and latch velocities before.

That can be just because the motors or drivers are wired differently.

For an example these are my settings:

Good morning Phil - we're back at it. Using the example you gave and reversing a few signs on my _vel etc. we're getting close.
Can you share your Home, Home Offset, Min and Max Limits for Joint 3 (Z axis).
Mine is working but my down travel is only a few mm.
Also - what variable allows for a little more movement off the home switch following a home sequence.?
Thanks,
Dennis

TYPE = LINEAR
HOME = 5.0 This should be -ve then it will come away from the switch

STEP_SCALE = 800.0 Changing the sign will reverse the direction
MIN_LIMIT = -1.0 These next two might have to be reversed
MAX_LIMIT = 50.0
HOME_OFFSET = 0.000000
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = -3.333333 Changing the sign will reverse the direction
HOME_LATCH_VEL = -0.500000 Changing the sign will reverse the direction
HOME_FINAL_VEL = 0.000000 this would be the speed it moves to home

Thanks Clive, Phil, and others
Homing is good. Probe test is good. Life is good.
Getting my head around the Z axis where + is towards HOME where my other Axis/Joints X and Y is the opposite, was the big issue.
Also there were some parameters added to Linuxcnc since I first loaded 2.8 a month or so ago and these were left hanging during the PlasmaC config a week ago.
Thanks again,
Dennis

Does that mean the Z axis is working OK i.e. jogging down going -ve if so :)
