Help with QTplasmaC was created by Clive S
I have tried to set up from scratch with Pnconf and 7i96 board.

I could not see ow to do a tandem axis so I went with 3 axis and hand edited the hal and ini file.

I have got the gui to load and does show me things like breakaway and sensors working with halshow.

When it is load it shows 3 axis XYZ ie not the 4th I can't get anything to jog and not sure if it is in estop the motors are locked.

Could someone please take a look at my files

It might be better to start pncconf, and edit it that way.

You just click on the drop down, click Axis > Tandem Axis > pick whatever suits your tandem axis, usually it's Y, so Y2 Tandem StepGen.

That's it really.

The only thing that is confusing is you may have to invert the direction for one of the Y motors. It will be listed under that Joint, but it's confusing because it's next to "Unused StepGen" then Dir Gen-B, and you can click Inv there.

I show it clicked in this view, just so you can see it, you'll have to figure out if you need it or not.

Thanks for looking at it. I did try with pncconf using the tandem axis but it still only showed 3 axis. pnconf only gives you the choice of XYZA

It does load now so must be nearly there. Should it show 4 axis before it is homed ? like it does with PlasmaC

edit : I used pncconf to get the 3 axis then added the other axis and joint. So can't used it again as it will overwrite what I have got so far.

Only showed 3 axis where?

You could create a backup of the folder before running again...

In pncconf you have the choice of lathe XZ mill XYZ and XYZA I tried with XYZA and putting tandem Y axis in everything went fine untill the end when It started asking for details for the A so it would not let me carry on so I had to exit out.

Should iQTplasmaC show the 4 axis at startup as it is only showing 3 at the moment. Homing is not working but all the sensors are ie float, breakaway , home switches apart from Y2

I already have a working PlasmaC on another drive but it is an old version of Linuxcnc. on 2.8.

I will have another go at it tomorrow.

if you have an X, Y an Z axis machine with a 2nd X or Y axis just select and xyz machine

then when you get to select the axis pins / ports, select X, y and z MAIN axis

AND either a TANDEM X or Y axis.

it will copy the X or Y parameters to the tandem axis automatically

Exactly, choose XYZ.

Tom Thanks, did you get a chance to read my first post. I have QTplasmaC loading and hal shows that I have the Y2 axis pins etc
but QTplamaC is only showing 3 axis I hand edited the hal and ini file by copping the first Y and altering the nets and step gen numbers etc.

QTplamaC is only showing 3 axis

I would think that's correct

Regardless of how many joints you have
you still have a 3 axis XYZ machine

Yes Peter you are correct but PlasmaC shows 4 axis until homed but QtplasmaC is only showing 3 I cannot jog any motors or home the machine yet. But do see the in halshow the various sensor working ok.

I am not sure what I am missing from the hal file. The motors are enable as they are locked

I will have to have another go in the morning.
