The main card is the 7i97.
The 7i74 is connected to the 7i97 via the P1 expansion connector.
The 7iA0 is connected to the 7i97 via LAN cable.
The 7i89 is connected to the 7i74 via RS-422/485.

1. Is this a 7I97 or 7I97T?

2. The 7I97/7I97T have only one parallel expansion port so you could use either the 7I74 or 7I89 but not both

3. The 7IA0 connects to either the 7I97's serial port or a serial port on the 7I74 or 7I89

Hello everyone.

I'd like to know this.
in G Code, for example

M101   -->   M64P0, M64P1, (multiple output) ,  M66P0 L4 Q3

( or turn on motion.digital-out-00, 01  / wait motion.digital-in-00 )

If possible, I would like to use Python, but other method is also OK.

Hello again,

can someone help me establish a connection between a 7i97 and a 7i74, 7iA0, and 7i89?

Hallo Linuxcnc Gemeinde,
wie der Titel schon beschreibt, möchte ich mit der Mesakarte,  meine alten Schrittmotorentreiber RTA GMD 02 ansteuern.

Bei der Anschlussbeschreibung der Eingang Schritt steht folgendes:
Logic level: low = V in <4V --- high = V in >8V
Step is performed on High to Low transition of signal. Suggested duty-cycle 50%. Max. Frequency: 50kHz with square wave signal from 0 to 12V. Supplied from a low impedance <300 Ohm.

Bitte um tips, wie mann das zum laufen bekommt, Vorschläge zu Zusatzplatinen, oder Schaltungen.

Grüsse studi

I have a PC that does not skip a beat at 15000 but it's power supply failed (workstation=expensive), most mine do 50000-100000, and i have some bad laptops that are in daily use for over 10 years with base period set at 300000.

Unfortunately, I had to leave the motors vibrating a bit because 7000 mm/min is necessary for me, and I use the SFU1605 in the X and Y directions. Seeing that my PC wasn't helping with this, I fixed the microstepping at 800.

But I'll still try to upgrade this PC until it's closer to these recommendations.

If using the RPi Trixie image you will need to update Linuxcnc to 2.9.8.

This will be the situation until late March\early April.

Well aware of how Italians dramatic and exaggerated in their statements, all you have to do is listen to Rossi et al and his comments regarding Marc.

The 7i73 will allow a reasonable HMI with just one cable as well. A 7i90 with SmartSerial firmware works in the same way.

Once you have hardware, submit the PR, Look at the S curve motion. It was pushed to Master branch with bugs in it so it could be tested more widely. Money is made by original thought. You just need one good idea and you might be surprised.

This would be good where a PC like an Odroid H4 was embedded in the HMI enclosure itself

So many great comments!

I'm a little unconvinced how changing to USB would have an affect on the "wiring nightmare or EMI issues".

I'm Italian. Italians are all dramatic and exaggerated in their statements.image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/cool.png
But to get serious: I imagined installing the system near the operator panel, so that all the controls are wired nearby; thus, keeping the wiring and connections clean and organized. Only the USB cable runs from the panel to the PC.

NWE writes
Last year I was thinking that this type of I/O via USB connection should be developed, but did not find time to start on it.

Over the past few months, I've had a lot of free time, and at first it was just a test to see if it worked... and gradually, things took shape, and I saw that there was a viable solution. I started with bit-banging from the Mesa board to control the shift registers... but I wasn't satisfied with the solution.

To reply to rodw:
1. The project started as a personal challenge, and the ones you see in the videos are the boards with "sins of youth" that I had built after the breadboard phase. I'm planning on making some basic kits with the correct versions. For now, I have some old boards.
2. It would be a dream. image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/w00t.png But I'd like the project to be further tested by others as well.
3 See point 2. Then I'll get organized, and if it's accepted, they'll include it in some update of the new version.
4 If you compare me to Mesa, you'll make me blush... I'm a hobbyist, they're professionals. image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/blush.png

ciao

I'm working on a gantry style one currently....though might build a carousel so it's quicker/doesn't eat space.

Rough process is you remap the m6 code, example here github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/tree/master...emap/rack-toolchange
