Any ideea about this motor ? Do you thing it has clutch? I suppose upper part is encoder, moddle part is the motor but the lower part?

The gearbox is under all and is big.

There should be no clutch, mine did not have.
They tend to have brakes, not clutches, so give it a push, if it moves it does not have a brake.
The part between the encoder and motor is the tacho generator, it sends feedback to the drive to close the velocity loop. The encoder goes to the controller to close the position loop.

Thank you for the clarification!

What got us worried was the part highlighted in yellow from the manual.

It seems to have no effect if connected or not...

Can you explain please how did you define the y axis for example ? How you define the rack and pinion raport, the gearbox and encoder?how did you treat ? Thank you.

hmmm ... measuring tape !
Open the calibration menu in Linuxcnc "machine" menu, and test using MDI, measure, correct the SCALE and measure again and again.

If you want to use PlasmaC config, you need that.
Not needed for thc_toma config.

Plasmac is part of the official Linuxcnc version 2.8 and 2.9 and toma_thc isn't. Plasmac supports THC's like the Proma. So I think that really answers your question.

Ok, but wich are the functional difference. I think tommylight use the proma thc. In this case toma_thc is compatible with proma thc. I will use a mesa thc i i want to know which is te best choice for me.
