If Mach can control it then LinuxCNC can control it.
The simplest way is probably to configure the carousel as a rotary axis, then write a G-code routine to make the tool-change moves. Once you have the G-code routine working you can remap that to the M6 command.

It looks like if I want to retrofit it I may have to use Mach3 , the guys at Machmotion already have a old VF2 running on it.

Well the machine arrived..
As an added bonus it is 4 axis ...
Before making a decision to retrofit..
I'm not sure if I should go through the trouble of running a 3 phase circuit to my
shop just to see what works... and then see how much it will cost to repair anything broken.
So is anyone interested in working on this thing with me ??
Anyone in South Florida?
Ive studied some tool changer routines, found the one in the axyz thread, starting to understand it a little..
I think with the cost of retrofitting or repairing is going to be about the same..

Well looks like I am gong to start a HAAS retrofit to LinuxCNC ...
Found two boards burned up.. not going to be worth finding out what else is wrong...
So I have removed all the HAAS controls ... Going to reuse a lot of stuff..

Im still here... made a big move in the past year.. close to going back to work on it.
Going to attempt to put a twin arm changer on it. I picked up a brand new surplus unit to try.

Great! I am in east central Fl. Right beside Cape Kennedy. I have a 1990 VF1. Working, but can't drip feed.
