For the inputs to work you need both as you have seen you get 9V with the 24v connected which is correct.

Please use a 5V supply instead of the USB

How did you burn the Bob up?

I connected the - from the 24V power supply to GND next to the input pins...

I can't check anymore, but I have + and - terminal blocks... and I have connected it to -

But I do have to say that here in NL you can plug-in the power socket 2 ways... (EU socket) If you know what I mean

Yes but is AC so should not matter The DC will be still +ve and _ve

How long do you have to wait for the new bob ?
