If you unplug the Parallel port card does the "Serial Controller" go away?

Yes,the serial controller is gone...

It might still work as a parallel card. Try the parallel port tester with 0x1c00 and e000 as the base address.
It will work, or it won't.

Unfortunately you have chosen to install a Sunnix PCIe card which is known to be flaky under linux

There was a patch to get the parports recognised, but don't know which kernel versions that got applied to

www.spinics.net/lists/linux-serial/msg14301.html

I should buy a MosChip based card
such as
www.iocrest.com/en/product_details85.html

How did you work out that it is a Sunix card? it would be very irritating if he bought another card and that was an incompatible one too.

eFalegname: Your latency looks excellent. I think it is probably worth trying again with another Parallel port card.
Apart from anything else apparently PCI / PCIe parallel ports are faster than motherboard ones, according to PCW.

This one claims to be Moschip:
www.ebay.it/itm/InLine-Scheda-parallela-...9:g:~jsAAOSwBahVaXOG

The card you have did not specify that it was Linux compatible, but you may still be able to get your money back. Unfortunately there is no way to get the wasted time back.

PCI-e one chip solution(OXFORD OXPCIe952)

That should work. I have found threads and emails with that chipset working in EPP mode for the Mesa 7i43, and if it will work in EPP mode then it will definitely work in basic mode.

The PP Pci-e card with the OXFORD OXPCIe952 chip works very well with LinuxCNC.
My problem right now (a week trying to solve it) is to set the proper resolution of the monitor to the integrated graphics ATI HD 6310. A NIGHTMARE!!
