You mean:
-chose base or no base,
-enter time,
etc ???
Since it would be easier to use, use the dialog with the choice of pressing enter for any of the answers and using default values for them, or entering values. Two hours are OK, nobase should be default, so it removes the base period time question.

That would be soooo undemocratic!any arguments against using dialog?

Yes, I intend to give dafault values or options, that users could alter or select.
So I interpret your statement as "Yes, use dialog"
Got some time tomorrow...

No idea, since --help does not show anything about it.

Got it:
LCNCData() {
echo "LinuxCNC related data:"
LCNCVersion=$(apt list linuxcnc-uspace | awk '{print $2}'
echo "LinuxCNC version is: $LCNCVersion"
printf '=%.0s' {1..80}
echo ""
}

Nope, you are not, although i can not recall any changes to latency histogram, so not sure if it has a version.
But tying it to the LinuxCNC version is a good idea.
Thank you.
Edit:
LinuxCNC has also a build number besides the general version.

+ might be easier to depict
question: what is more "unique": Build No. or general version? What would users relate to?
- I have no Idea, how to extract that build No. from a bash script, help appreciated
