By the way, ST-Link v2 can be converted to the J-Link OB. By uploading J-Link firmware. Just google it

And loads of flux it's pain they went with this style of chip. Harder to solder but once you have hot air and stencils it's do able. Do you have a microscope? I use a cheap Chinese one and does the job fine

I borrowed a set of magnifying glasses. Should do the job. I'm thinking this will be the surest way as I've started to trace out using Rog's photos and cross referencing to the MCUExprsso config tool. But what appears to be a UART pin does not go to a UART enabled pad...? A close up of the tracks at the rear of the MCU would be super helpful.
