Hello,
have use now a Optiplex 980 with i5 with 8GB RAM for 49 Bucks. Now Linuxcnc work fine. Latency is under 38.000 with 6 glxgears and Youtube for over 24h. No errors more with LinuxCNC... so a good alternative i think and with 49 Bucks cheaper than all other ideas.

I have a Lenovo M72e tower that is good with a 4 core i5.
If want to use the on board parallel port you have to find a genuine Lenovo cable.......it's magic cable that enables the PPort and lets you change setting in the BIOS.

This I found BTSOTR when walking the dog.

No link to the $49 used special PC sale?

Used and off-lease PC's are great when they are available.
