Hey guys. Bought a machine at an online auction and was told it powered up but had a controller card issue. So i figured mabe 1k worth of parts and id have a running machine......
well i was in a hurry to load it up and get it home to find they were pretty dishonest(even talked to the seller) seems they parted the keyboard interface, io stuff, and some other stuff pretty sad but i was working on getting it back togather...
then i found they took the dam hard drive, there goes that idea lol
Well out with the old hitrol in with the new lunixcnc
Im assuming its gunna be slow going so i can figure this all out, ive done a g0704 mill awhile back with mach3 and i know sumin fully functional is gunna be alot more difficult but im willing to learn, hopefully in my yrs my brain hasnt smoothed out completly lol
heres the plan
Lunixcnc
mesa board
Simodrive 611 drives (as long as there still good)
Current siemens servos

Heres the first question.
id like to the the ethernet based card and im pretty sure the 611 drives need along 0-10v so a 7i97 would work perfectly, but there not available atm. is it possible you use a 7i96s or 7i76e with daughter cards? Looking for sumin i can buy sooner than later
Thanks guys

Don't assume that that 611 drives are analog. It depends on the control card that is fitted to them. Only the universal one can be controlled via analog.

If the drives are analog, you would need 1 of:
5i25
6i25
7i92
7i96s
And 1 of 7i77
Not sure if there is ready made firmware for 7i96s/7i77.
And first two are not ethernet, but with the current state of chips, see what you can find, probably the easiest combo is 7i96s/7i77 to find.

There are other options for sure, i did not use them so i can not refference numbers, but there should be an analog output daughter card, there are encoder cards, IO cards, etc.
Would gladly have a look and report back if i get a chance, in the meantime, others please chime in.

Maybe 5i24 + 7i36?

I use the 6i24 (PCIe version, out of stock) on my lathe, it's probably the most IO pins / $£€ of the Mesa boards. The 6i24 is a PCI card, though, and so would need a PCI (not PCIe) motherboard.
Alternatively, still working with the 50-pin "HD" family of mesa cards, MesaUS has a 7i80HD in stock that would work with the 7i36. (there are also other HD servo interfaces, such as the 7i48 but for a lathe I think that the 7i36 with 4 channels + onboard GPIO is a better bet)
