Both of you bring up interesting solutions I hadn't considered... I've used the 5I25/7I77 in the past very successfully, so I was naturally leaning that way.  It looks like to me the 7I97T will be very close to what I have used in the past.  Can the step-gen ports on the 7I95 and others be repurposed?  It seems to me that while a 7I96+7I85+7I83 will get me all the things I need, it also has items that are of no use to me (step-gen) and ends up more expensive than a 5i25/7I77 plug-n-go kit.  Are there benefits to the ethernet ports above and beyond using a PCI port? Apologies for the simple questions, my last retrofit was many years ago.

Mesa 5i25/7i77 or 7i97T are hard to find.

Are there any suppliers in australasia.
I tried emailing the NZ supplier that was mentioned on the Mesa site but that bounced as did the one in VN. The member here, JT, seemed to be selling boards but he has not been here in months and there is no contact details in his bio.
I ask because postage will cost more than the boards which seems insane. I have a 30Kg parcel coming from Europe and the postage for that is less than 2 small boards.

Rod
I tried using your link but the Capture was always wrong.
Thats a good option to get me started but would still need more.
This is what i was thinking of and i sent in an email to JT. I suppose with your board i could add a 7185S to get the extra step/dir outputs and scale encoder inputs.

I am new to LCNC and have started construction of a mill, 24"x 16", that will have a carousel style ATC and eventually a 4th and 5th. With a servo spindle I will need 7 step/dir and I want to have the option for glass scales so that leads me to the choice of a 7195T and a 7176 for boards. If you have thoughts about my selection i would be grateful to hear them. I purchased an ODROID-H3+ for the brains as this seemed to get good reviews on the forum.

Maybe a group order to cut down on shipping?

I'm in Australia and would not mind a board or two but shipping cost does put me off.
