Why would X need to be at 0 when moving the U?
I am pretty sure that it is possible to set up Linuxcnc so that the position of X is the sum of U and joint 0 (the real X axis).

Now that is a much better idea. I will check that as soon as i get the machine moving under control, that will be after new years.
Tonight i will try to get the Mesa boards powere up on the bench and make some connections so i can check that the software is communicating with the boards ( 7i92 and 7i76e ), also install the 5i25 and 6i25 on 2 computers to have them ready.
I am going to try to use the built in encoders ( serail absolute enc. ) with 7i74 if at all possible, if not, i already have the incremental 2500 CPR for all axis and spindle.
The idea is to use 1 (5i25 or 6i25 or 7i92) with 1 7i77 and 1 7i74. There is also the tool changer and the 3 side tools that i will have to deal with, but that is only after all the rest is finished.
Thank you very much.

Well that was uneventful !!! Just did a bench test of the 7i76e and it took me all of the 25 minutes to have it up and running. I already had the kernel installed on one of my laptops using Linux Mint.
Used the Pncconfig to make a usable config, strange that it asks for parallel port, so i had to manually remove the lines pertaining to paraport and it worked. checked the outputs with a multimeter and they do work properly.
This was on a Lenovo T420S, and i am getting some really bad latency on it, 11300000 to be exact on the servo thread so the card would error after a while. (yop that is over 11 milion). I have some computers that can do 3 to 5000 so i will be using those on the machine.
Now, PCW if you read this, thank you for great products and support, and i have a question: can i connect a 7i92 directly to a 7i77 without a cable? As far as i gathered from reading, the 7i77 should be connected on the other port, not the DB25, or am i wrong?
I am off to watch the Grand Tour (car show) and get some zzzzzzzzzz.

Yes, you can connect a 7I92M ( M for Male DB25 ) directly to a 7I77
