Made quite some progress these days on the machine, since i can work only 2-3 hours a day on it.
Things working so far:
Machine power O.K.
Drive power O.K.
E-stop loop working properly, override extreme limit switches works properly
6i25/7i77/7i74/7i70/7i71 all flashed with SSI firmware, connected, and all working
Spindle motor and drive wired and tested ( AC servo ) 0-5000RPM, both directions
SSI encoders, got to the point of getting fuzzy readings on DRO and HAL SCOPE
Arranging wires as much as possible during work, or i'll end up with a mess
To be done:
SSI more testing to figure out proper timings, data, and making usable readings
Wire other drives, already have them all figured out
Wire the outputs, motor brakes, a pneumatic brake on long X axis, air valves, lube valves, air etc
Wire the inputs, limit switches, pressure sensors, low oil, etc
Wire the tool changer, it has a motor brake, clutch, position sensors, an AC motor controlled by two relays, and unknowns aplenty, figure out the procedure etc
Figure out a way of controlling 2 ( two ) X axis, one 6450mm long, the other 400mm on top of the first one. Todd mentioned using SUM of 2 axis, so i will check that when i get to that point.
Configuring all the above in hal.
Attached pictures of the halscope and axis form today's encoder testing (had to take pictures with phone, print screen does not work in wheezy )
Again, thank you all for support, advice, criticism, and everything. Very much appreciated.

Just found this, it is a direct replacement for the encoders on the machine. Some good info for sure.
Adding it here in case anyone needs it.

I was happy i got to actually show something from the encoders, so i just pressed print screen and it did not work, so i grabbed my phone.jtc wrote: go to accessories => screen capture to take screenshots.
