EMC and 7i43

I am trying to get a new 7i43 board to connect to EMC2, however I seem to be unable to get the FPGA to load on the board.

I believe I have the jumpers set correctly:
W1 Up
W2 Up
W3 Down
W4 Down
W5 Down
W6 Up

I have ensured in BIOS that my parallel port has an address of 0378, and is running EPP, and I have the 7i43 firmware installed.

Any ideas how to proceed?

I am a little worried that maybe my parallel cable is too long, I have a 15 foot long ribbon cable with ends as provided by Mesa, and the power LED lights up, but nothing else.

change W2 to down
change W3 to up

give it a try , 15' cable should be ok
although i would use a screened cable , rather than ribbon at that length , screened cables tend to be thicker cored than ribbon ,
so less of a voltage drop .

what error are you getting can you post dmesg output
check the bit file exists and correct name and location also

some pc's have EPP & ECP dual mode , make sure it's EPP only

Do you have 5V power supplied to the 7I43s P1 terminal block? (preferably from the PC that connects to the 7I43)

When jumpered for EPP mode, the three LEDs on the bottom (one yellow and two red LEDs) should be illuminated when first powered up. If you don't get this you likely have a power problem...

So I need an external power supply in addition to the parallel cable?

how are you supplying 5v to the 7I43 to P1 ? , the 7i43 requires a 5v dc supply

Off one of the PSU plugs.

After being able to connect to the 7i43 through the standard config, I tried setting up a file using PNCConf and am able to connect to the 7i43, but I get an error "HAL: ERROR: duplicate variable '.in'" and everything disconnects.

I'm very new to linux and I suspect I may be missing something basic.
