This is what PNCconf's open loop test is for.
To confirm that the dac and encoder are working properly and are both agree on direction.
You can unhook the servo amp and connect a multimeter to confirm the dac output without worrying about motor movement.

The open loop test doesn't use PID , it just uses the encoder and dac scaling.
When you push the + button confirm the axis moves in the positive direction and the encoder counts up.
If they don't, then toggle the invert buttons till it does agree.
Then you know the axis directions will match AXIS graphic display and there will not be a servo runaway because the encodr scaling is opposite of The dac.
