HI
I got 7i97 card yesrday. I am trying to find optimum placement of new boards (mother board and MESA 7i97 , SMPS etc)
My control panel is quite big , I can accommodate all the above cards there
OR
this need to be put in main electrical panel box.
I think 1st option may be easier . Any ideas are welcome
thanks
Riaz

Hi
I would like some guidance on motherboads.
www.amazon.in/Intel-BOXNUC5CPYH-Processo...d=1590926332&sr=1-13
This is a 12 V mini PC which I planning to use . Is ot ok for a 4 axis mill?
thanks

Hi,
I have started working on this retrofit after a long break . I am doing the circuit diagram now . servo drive is SGDA05AS from yaskawa. and mesa 7i97 is used for retrofit. I have few queries
encoder power and GND connections, below is recommendation from drive
where as mesa card has 5V and ground pin given separately ( i think it is used to power separate encoder).
TB1 PIN FUNCTION DIR
1 QA0 TO 7I97
2 /QA0 TO 7I97
3 GND FROM 7I97
4 QB0 TO 7I97
5 /QB0 TO 7I97
6 +5V FROM 7I97
7 IDX0 TO 7I97
8 /IDX0 TO 7I97
how do I connect in this case?
thanks

Just as in the diagram you posted above.
You simply don't connect the +5v
TB1 PIN => SERVOPAC CN1
1 QA0 => CN1-20 PAO
2 /QA0 => CN1-21 /PAO
3 GND => CN1-19 0v
4 QB0 => CN1-22 PBO
5 /QB0 => CN1-23 /PBO
6 +5V nc
7 IDX0 => CN1-24 PCO
8 /IDX0 => CN1-25 /PCO

That looks like all that is needed. The encoder index (IDX0) signal is optional. It is possible one or more of the alarm signals or the alarm reset might be useful, but not nessisary. Also the rotation prohibit inputs are sometimes connected to hard limit switches but also not nessisary.
