It is the current development version of EMC2 including the latest additions and bug fixes. The latest release version of EMC2 is 2.4.6, but 2.5 will be released fairly soon. Most of the changes that will be in the 2.5 release are available now by downloading "master" from linuxcnc.org

What is the purpose of the SSD? Additional memory for the FPGA? Or is it in lieu of a PC?

That is the hard-drive (equivalent) for the PC. We know that the tiny little Intel D510MO motherboard works nicely with EMC2, and with a PicoPSU and soiid-state hard drive it runs silently and fanlessly (so no moving parts)

Show my D510 PC with the 5i23 on top, mounted on the back of the 17" touchscreen that my mill will be using.

You can use the Stepper Config Wizard if it is a basic stepper machine or take one of the sample configs or read the Integrators Manual and roll your own.

In 2.5 there will be a Servo Config Wizard for Mesa hardware.

It is a servo machine.

Is 2.5 ready yet? Not too many bugs? If so Ill down load it and start with it.

Ive been reading thru the intregators manual but I havent seen yet where to config EMC2 to the machine yet. Lots of info. Just havent found what I need yet.

My configuration is normal XYZ mill with a "A" trunnion and "B" rotary table.

My first time at this and Im still on the bottom of the learning curve. :D

I should have read back to the beginning of this thread...

I've been using 2.5 for 6 months on my Hardinge CHCN lathe... There might be a minor bug from time to time but mostly it is packed with new features. I started with the 5i20 sample config it was easy enough to change it to suit my needs. Also remember to run any of the pci type of configs you have to have the card installed so the config can find it.

The easiest way is to get the deb, the instructions for that are here buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ Also remember you need the real time kernel so the easy way for that is to install from the LiveCD.

Ive read most of the intregators manual. It answered a lot of questions and gave me a few places to start. I went and looked at downloading 2.5 but looks confusing to me. Im sure it is a simple as pie but my programming days are 30 years past and things have changed a lot!!
Delivery from MESA comes tomorrow so Ill see what happens and how little I know.:D

The easiest way is to just download the LiveCD from here then add 2.5.

Post some photos when you get a chance.
