Yes, I already installed the live cd and have been trying to configure it for the mill. The time consuming part is reading and getting a grasp on the 1000 pages of data spread over many manuals.
Ill post pics as I get started on the build.

Well you only need one manual to configure your machine, the Integrators Manual. The easiest place to see the components is on line here:

I like to read everything involved before I start a project. There is also hardware and drive manuals...

I think you have a 7I48, in that case there are some changes to the HAL and INI files needed
(These may not make sense until you actually start editing the files)
1. Select a 7I48 compatible firmware file for your FPGA card (its name will end in 7I48)
I think theres a SV12_2X7I48.BIT at least for the 5I20 (not sure about other cards)
if you start with the hm2_servo example, the firmware selection is done in the .ini file
2. Set all the output mode of all PWMgens used to type 2 ( the default mode is type 1 which will not work with the 7I48)

Yes, I got the 7148.
It should arrive today.
The progrramming changes you mentioned, are they on 2.4 or 2.5?
Thanks

When you pick a sample hostmot2 servo config you won't find a 7i48 config so you have to pick another one and change the references to match the 7i48 bit file. When you open up the hal and ini file you will find pointers to more info.

As usually happens,I have 7 PC's laying around and none have a PCI32 expansion slot. All PCIe.
So it looks like the Black Thuban gets the job. It has PCI slots.....
Im sure it is overkill but I dont want to buy a new one at the moment...

Nice clean machine. Does it have a chip door on the right side too? My Discovery 308 does but the latches are missing, I wonder if your latches are the same design? Can you take a close up photo of the chip door latch?
Thanks
