Thanks for help PCW ! But I have checked in both computer and there is no hm2-servo directory in ~/linuxcnc/configs/ . I think I am missing any step.

It may be that you need to install the hm2 firmware package to get the hm2 configuration directories
(I dont have a running liveCD version so Im not sure when that gets installed)
In any case you can make your own directory in ~/linuxcnc/configs and put the 5i25-7i77.ini and hm2-servo7i77.hal there

I am trying to search hostmot2 firmware for 5i25 but there is no firmware for 5i25. When I try "sudo apt-get install hostmot2-firmware (and press tab)" then it shows the following options.

hostmot2-firmware
hostmot2-firmware-5i22-1.5
hostmot2-firmware-3x20-1
hostmot2-firmware-5i23
hostmot2-firmware-4i65
hostmot2-firmware-7i43-2
hostmot2-firmware-4i68
hostmot2-firmware-7i43-4
hostmot2-firmware-5i20
hostmot2-firmware-all
hostmot2-firmware-5i22-1

Thats correct, there is no firmware directory for the 5I25
(the 5I25 stores its firmware on the card)

I was just thinking that perhaps the hostmot2-firmware package installs the hostmot2 configs but
the configs are in the normal 2.5 release tree so I dont know why you dont have them by default

what directories do you have in ~/linuxcnc/configs/ ?
.

I have the following directories in ~/linuxcnc/configs/

5axis
my_LinuxCNC_machine
my-mill
sim

two of them started with my are created by me. One with stepconf and one with pncconf. Both have their xml files as well in the same directory.

OK you would probably have to start Linuxcnc and select an existing hm2-servo config
(doesnt matter which one) to create the directory

Thanks for your effort ! but I am unable to figure out where to get existing hm2-servo config ? Do you mean my own created one ?

I have created "my_LinuxCNC_machine" with pncconf and it configures both 5i25 and 7i77. atleast not giving any error till loading the linuxcnc. I will try to hook this configuration with my machine on Saturday.

No, start linuxcnc and select a hm2-servo config from the sample configs.

I got it ! It created a directory hm2-servo. There is some <board>.ini files with hm2-servo.hal and readme.txt and tool.tbl.

Good, so now if you want to try manual HAL file editing you can copy the 5i25-7i77.ini and hm2servo7i77.hal file to that directory and give it a try

Yes ! I want to try manual editing as well. But I can't find the 5i25-7i77.ini and hm2servo7i77.hal in downloaded drivers from mesanet. there is only .bit files or .pin files. Is there any other link to download ?
