sorry I have a little confusion .....

with 5i25 + 7i77 (1pcs and nothing else) I have or not 6 encoder input, 6 analog output and 16 output + 32 input?

In these case not see the page where is possible select these config on pncconfig .....

I know the TB2 is power connector of 7i77 .... perhaps I misspoke .... when use pncconfig after MPG otions, I see these page ....

the first label = configuration page
second = connector 2
third = connector 3

I think connector 3 is referred to external DB25 connector of 5i25 ... Isn't right?

At these point I have only two choice about 7i77 configuration

as you see only "7i77 mode 0....." and "7i77 mode 3...." nothing about mode 1 and mode 2 ..... is Right?

If select mode 3 or mode 2 obtain only configurator for TB7 and TB8 connector .... nothing about TB5 or analog output .......

are you using internal connection of 5i25 or external db25 edge connector ?

the servo pins on tb5 are part of smart serial 2 , using 7i77x2

we need to check a few connections , also what bit file are you using ? is it 7i77x2 ?
that was loaded to 5i25

also the serial flash loaded to 7i77 do you have that correct
in pncconf do not select any addon cards that are defaulted
only select firmware 7i77x2
and have the 7i77 powered up whilst you use pncconf
if you are using only external db25 to 7i77 , then you should be selecting mesa0 not mesa1

also do you have 7i77x2 xml file in /lib/firmware/hm2/5i25
these need to be copy as root so use sudo

You dont have to do anything with those files, the internal data works fine
(just verified here)

@cncbasher I see your image only with the old release of linuxcnc 4 days ago (linuxcnc 2.6.3) ..... now with a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 (from linuxcnc repo ... with old linuxcnc 2.5) and wit the upgrade version of linuxcnc 2.7 .. I never see it.

I have just tested .... I have crete a new 5i25 folder with only 5i25_7i77x2.pin .bit .xml (without .bit file is the same) ...... same problem .

You talk about 7i77x2.bit file .... but I see only 5i25_7i77x2.bit file from mesa repo... are the same?? I use external DB25 connector of 5i25

For solve any question about ceck-box .... see the image and talk me about 1 - 2- 3 - 4 choice.

About 7i77 mode 0 and 3 ... see the result if select one or other on connector 2 or 3.

i TRY AGAIN TO USE 5I25-INTERNAL ... BUT UNDERSTAND WELL? CAN USE db25 CONNECTOR WITH 5I25-INTERNAL?

5i25-internal means use internal 5i25/daughtercard XML info not external file
it has nothing to do with connectors

Ok I try to cancel 5i25 folder .... load 5i25_7i77x2.bit on 5i25 flash with mesaflash ... re-start the pc ... use every type of combination of choice (1-2-3-4 in my image) .... use 5i25 internal data and 7i77x2 .... the same not at all TB5 configurator :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

At these point I think the flash is out .... I have 2 5i25 cards installed (on different machine) .... same problem ..... :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

Once you have written the firmware with mesaflash you should never need the bitfiles anymore
(doesnt matter what version of mesaflash, they all do the same thing as regards writting firmware)

If you use pncconfs internal settings (which means dont use external XML file)
You dont need the xml files at all since they are not used so it doesn't
matter where you put them or even if you delete them all

I just verified that pncconf from 2.7 works ok with internal 5i25/7I77 data
