That depends on what the index-enable signal is called.
But maybe
sets index-enable true

sets index-enable true

sets spindle-index-enable true = no error message
Then to look where and what?

See if it stays true when you rotate the spindle.

Looking at signals = it is set to true and nothing happens when rotating the encoder. I have set this up here in my lab.

I would "sets" the index enable signal but watch the encoder index enable pin (since a incorrect hal file setup might not link these)
What should happen is this:
The encoder index-enable pin should be low initially
When you "sets" the index-enable signal, the encoder index-enable should go true
then when you rotate the encoder past the index position, the encoder index-enable pin
should go false

So I´m back.
encoder-index-enable pin is low and stays low after sets spindle-index-enable true = no change

OK so that means that the hal file is not correct (it does not "net" spindle-index-enable to the encoder index-enable pin)

All the spindle encoder setup is missing from that hal file
If I run pncconf here I get the right setup/scaling and net connections
Is it possible you left out something like setting up encoder 0 as spindle encoder in pncconf?

Most likely, pncconf is not at all beginner friendly.
So what next and not messing up what is there. Run a new setup and copy paste ?
