If this is an interface from an FPGA card to a sserial device it
should follow my previous posts pinout:
should follow my previous posts pinout:
RJ45 PIN FUNCTION
1 TXA NON-INVERTED TX
2 TXB INVERTED TX
3 RXA NON-INVERTED RX
4 GND
5 GND
6 RXB INVERTED RX
7 +5V
8 +5V

one step further, but stil without success
I build a cable to match the different pinouts - no change.
Then I watched the oscilloscope during "loadrt hm2_pci" - no rumor on the smart serial lines.
I guess, I should see some spikes even without having a 7i73 connected.
So I researched the output from hal - and that did not match output from mesaflash.
Til today I had the new bitfile written to fallback area only, so I thought, may be I have to flash it in regular area?
Did that, but no change either.
Output from mesaflash looks as expected:
... but output of hal_run is different:
There are no smartserial pins. The pins that should have special meaning are stated as IOPort, which could be the reason, why the 7i73 will not be recognized.
So may be my commandline to start hm2_pci is wrong?Output from mesaflash states, that base address of smartserial is 5B00 - should I have used that number as parameter to loadrt config line?

SSerial TX/RX pins will revert to ioport if no smart serial device is found.
Do you have any access to a Mesa sserial BoB to test with?

That was meant for PCW, not for you, it was PCW's quote.
I already have three. No need for your mockeryI have 2, you want me to mail you one ?

And I have access to many 7I73s, just not at home...

Sorry PCW, that was intended as a joke.

Hi,
I guess, the max ic i used for smartserail is to slow. I tested my board with a frequency generator and it worked as expected on lower speed. Guess the am26Cxx (which I used for step interface) would have been better choice for smart serial ...
.
But I realized, that the 5i24 is shipped with a dummy firmware only, that supports just ioports/leds ...
Is there a firmware, that combines the new cards I got - and if so, which one is it?

So I bought a 5i24 together with a 7i47 (which should drive the stepper through differential lines) and a 7i44 for smartserial cards.Do you have any access to a Mesa sserial BoB to test with?

5i24_16_sssvst8_1_5_7i47.bit
5 Step/Dir, 1 PWM, 4 encoders on 7I47 (P4)
Plain GPIO on middle connector (P3)
8 SSerial interfaces on a 7I44 (P2)
is probably close to what you want
(assuming you have a -16 card)
