new pnc.config won't load in linuxcnc

if you unzipped 7i76e.zip in your home directory, the bit files would be in

~/7i76e/configs/hostmot2

i managed to reflash it. way back on page 2 of this post you told me how to reflash my 5i25 and as an example you said
cd to ~/xxx/xxx/
and i took that to litteral. it doesn't work with the 'to' in there it needs to be just cd ~/xxx/xxx
stupid things i need to learn. It waists alot of time.
now i just have to see how that helps me set up the 7i76e. at least i have made it this far, now i can actualy see the 7i76e now i can plug the 7i77 into the 7i76e with the 7i64 into the 7i77 and see if i can access them all. might be a few more weeks at this pace.

does any one know what this code line 'hm2_7i76e.0.7i77.1.7i64.0.1.-00output should look like to work with a 7i64 connected to tb6 on a 7i77 connected to expansion port1 on a 7i76e

The easiest way to find the device names is to launch a minimal
LinuxCNC configuration and then run:

halcmd show pin hm2

from a command line

I would expect the 7i64 names to be something like

hm2_7i76e.0.7i64.0.4.something

I don’t know you could do that. That makes a lot of sense. Up to now I’ve been doing my pnc with pins on each card so I could see the routing. In the morning I will make one that only uses the 7i76e and see how that goes. I already left the shop for today. I figured I pulled enough hair out for one day. Thanks.

I was hopeful of this halcmd show pin hm2 working, and it does, but it only seems to show what the hal file says and since my hal file is wrong and needs to be modified, because pnc.config doesn't have the options that i need for the card configuration that I have, it doesn't help me. I need to figure out the line code layout to access each board in the string.
eg. '7i76e.0.7i77.0.1.7i64.0.2

I guess what I really need to figure this out is the numbers after the card name in the address line (.0. or .0.1.) what is the first digit and what is the second digit. I'm thinking now that .0. is card one channel one .0.1. is card one channel two .1.2. is card two channel three .2.3. would be card three channel four.
Is this correct or am I way off here.
