emb_cam.hal
emb_cam.py
emb_cam.glade

Which are 3 files needed by this command in the .ini file:
EMBED_TAB_COMMAND = gladevcp -x {XID} -c emb_cam -H emb_cam.hal -u emb_cam.py emb_cam.glade

The "here" link points me back to this message, and is a loop I've been around twice now. But despite a couple hours of searching this forum under an even broader search, I have not found a link to download a package containing those files.

Consequently its impossible for me to report success or failure as you requested.

They do not exist in any other cam* file I have downloaded and unpacked so far.

What I am asking is where can I source those 3 files listed in this thread? Also shown as part of the EMBED_TAB_COMMAND above.

Gene,

the thread i mentioned, has attached a zip file. You need to download the file, unpack it and in the resulting config folder you will find the mentioned files.

Its not visible to a wheezy FF v52 something in any of the threads I've chased thru looking for this.

Can you re-attach it to the next reply? Or better yet, PM it to gheskett AT shentel DOT net?

Thanks a bunch.

I found a link , quite early in this thread, dated sometime in 2016, but I've not been able to access it as it appears to not exist at github any more. Is this the link that contains the 3 emb_* files I am missing?

Thanks Norbert

Hallo gene1934,

if you go to the thread I mentioned, you will find a attachment.
If you do download that one, you have a zip file containing every file you need.

I also mailed the zip file to you.

Norbert was kind enough to pm me the files, and a jpg showing where the download was at. But I don't click on unlabeled buttons. Can this lack of button labels be addressed?

FWIW, it works in the axis gui with fewer niggles, better than before, and I believe it will be usable. when my machine is 100% alive again. The bob attached to p2 on the 5i25 got blown by the failure of $2.50 buck regulator, and I'm hoping it didn't cascade back into the 5i25. But that guy Murphy is always looking over my shoulder. :(

Cheers all.

If you hover over the button (left side) you can see the file name

This is true, but to get that info it has to query the forum driver, which will then reply with anything including an attack vector, Just one of the habits that I use to keep me out of the black-hats cross hairs. Many times more likely I'd click on it if it was properly labeled.

Thanks Clive.

Have just installed a cam and it works great following the guide laid out by Bogie.
Many thanks to you all, Norbert, Bogie and others!!

That said, I wonder what is necessary to make the camera hot pluggable, in other words, if I disconnect the camera from the laptop, it will not return after plugging back in unless the machine is rebooted.
Having a cable pulled out or bumped out of a USB port half way through a job is problematic at the next tool change (I am using this for a lathe to manually set tool tip offset at tool change) as one would have to reboot and loose positional accuracy in the process.

I see some benefits for hot pluggable ability but am unsure how to go about making the camera hot pluggable.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
