Hello, I have a Mesa 7i96 board and am using the Proma Compact thc. I wondering if the configuration files still work. Along with that I have a couple wiring questions if you don’t mind answering. Please and thank you!

Yes they do work, but it is much better if you use the PlasmaC config fro 7i96, it is more advanced and has a lot of new features.

Did you read the notes in the first post that this config is superceded and to use Plasmac?

I’m sorry, I probably did but I’m really not familiar with Linux so I didn’t understand it

Thank you. I’m not very familiar with Linux or things like this. Which of the four links would I click?

First 2.
Later you can decide if you want to use 2.8 or 2.9 version of Linuxcnc. 2.8 is stable while 2.9 is still being developed so might have occasional issues but it is very stable so far.

Off topic -- And that reminds me:
On Linux unstable = some issue that needs precise directions just to be able to find it, usually no one notices it,
On windows patch = something has already gone horribly wrong for many, many users.

Thank you very much! This may be the wrong place to ask, If it is I’m sorry. Does the proma thc need a relay to help protect if from the Pilot arc? And is a relay board enough isolation or do you suggest more?

No it does not need anything.
What type of Proma ?
If THC150, all is good continue reading,
If THC SD, stop reading this and just go make a normal 3 axis config and use the machine after some adjusting of the THC. The SD is self contained so it has nothing to do with software, it just intercepts the step/dir signals going to the Z axis drive and sends it's own signals.
