i915 was an Intel chipset with built in graphics in the 2000's so it has no more support in recent kernels. Good, as it had plenty of issues and needed to be blacklisted often for Linux to work.
It is safe to ignore those warnings.

Tom, Thanks a ton
Up and running now. I have to say the praising of mint has something to it. Mate is not too far away from KDE at all. have to figure out how to switch to my kbd layot yet, but that is a question of patience and brain juice. I'll manage that.

Edit: kbd layout was just a piece of cake, start to really like mint

I like to use an rt kernel 4.19.0-9-rt-amd64 with mint, as I get realtime delays with kernel 5.4.0-0.bpo.4-rt-amd64. How can I do that?

I am a bit puzzled: i915 seems to be still alive?!

Here are the results of a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93, running for 2 minutes only, with no base thread:

That is not a big issue at all, the overall latency is still good with 5.4 if you want to use software stepping.
If you do not need software stepping ( parallel port) you can ignore the base thread latency issues and use only the servo latency numbers.I'll try to find that kernel a bit later.
