but the issue I see and that makes me suspicious is that I download the image on a PC with W10 and I can't open it. It says it's corrupted, I can't even open it.

I did a test:
I downloaded the image from here with W10
I opened it with Raspberry Image
it loads without problems

Good afternoon jjdege, it loads there... but try to open or mount this image on your computer and you will see that it says it is corrupted. This process with raspberry image loads on the card without errors but when executing it gives errors. There is a problem with this image.

It did the same to me, I think the SD is deadtry mont the image... is wrong

The 2.92 image required use of balena etcher to burn it
It looks like the release manager has not released the 2.9.3 Image I gave them. Try this one

That 4 year old tutorial is obsolete. It does not use the current version of linuxcnc and ethercat has changed many many times since. There are much easier ways today.
1. Download my 2.9.3 image I linked as it includes the ethercat repository already installed
