HAL trigger M code

Hello Todd,

Feed Override does work actually, but the accelerated max speed for the 3D and 2D movements are become different. For reference i have attached one image where 2 different section is marked with numbers, mark 1 section has Z movement and mark 2 do not has Z movement this makes section 2D movement.

Now, when tool slide down from the leaf of flower if feed override set to 10% then speed reduce to some speed x but when running in between leafs the machine speed reach to 3-5x due to x-y acceleration. really required is feed percentage should set all the axis speed to same level and maintain that speed between part1 and 2.

Automatic naming of signals in HAL

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Okay, good that somebody else feels the same.

I realize the first post was rather long. The TL;DR is: why not have the HAL net command give signal names automatically in case no net name is specified. And if multiple connections is done to the same pin, simply link the following ones to the signal that is already there, without having to explicitly specify its name.

Using transformer with 3 28.5V secondary windings to supply 57VAC/80VDC

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I was wrong with saturation. I'm used to small ferrite toroidal transformers wich are sensible to saturation, but your is surely iron core. Like Tommy said, the limit is the temperature.
And even with ferrite, it's only one magnetic circuit, so saturation would only appear when the total windings current exceed the maximum of the transformer.
We don't care of unbalanced current between windings.

Tommy advice is to overload it and check the temperature, I agree it works, put the right fuse after test on the output and then. Are you even sure you will overload it ? Maybe not !
I would although consider to change it because I think it's a small one (you don't say how many amps you have), and I have many unused transformers. Maybe you don't. Have a look around you, it's easy to find some...

Doing a power supply.. For me no, if you put the three in series you will have 90VAC, better to use directly 120VAC or 240VAC in this case.

But once again, I assume your transformer is a small one (300VA ?), it's not the same if it's a 2kVA one, but in this case you wouldn't need to worry for the third driver.

I can store #5401 value in #myvalue variable and call twice G10 L1 P1 X[#myvalue], I will try this today.
If anybody has a way to understand what happened, I would prefer.

Hi,
The 7i96S would be a better choice to drive a STEP/DIR driver like yours. Can't you change to 7i96S ?

Seems that these drives use a fieldbus interface which makes it pretty much impossible to use them in a LinuxCNC retrofit.

Remora - Rpi Software Stepping Using External Microcontroller via SPI

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hi all,First of all I wanted to express my grattitute for the assistance on getting the octopus board to run Remora LinuxCNC.Since I actually want to print cool stuff on the 5 axis modified Ender3 3d printer, I am writing 2 addons for Blender. The first is an indexed slicer that let's the user chop off overhanging parts of the model, so they're printed in a more gravity friendly orientation. The second is a "magic spiral toolpath generator". I love to print miniatures and have this TINtIN buste taht is perfect to test out this strategy. The idea is that the entire model is printed in one spiral motion, while the machine orients itself to pe perpenticular to the path and flush with the mesh direction. To save myself the challenge of writing a toolpath postprocessor I wanted to ask here about if anyone knows if there exists something already to achieve this. I was thinking to bring my blender curve to another app and modify the machine geometry and that finally have that amazing 5 axis gcode :)btw both addons can be found on my github: bbo-gitI'm attaching a small screen shot for your entertainment ;)See you!Jairo

For the edges of the parts, this is not a big problem for me, but the main issue is with the holes—they are oval instead of round.
I have already read this page and understand the height vs. angle relationship, but why does this only happen in the Y direction in my case?
On X direction the cuts are perfectly straight.

Getting QTDragon settings values from within remap.py

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

You would need to modify qtdragon to output though settings as HAL pins, then you can read them in a ngc program.

Elumatec SBZ 130/01 retrofit

Category: CNC Machines

Hi, I'm azim4411's teammate working as an intern on the same project with him, we've realized that the choice of 7i49 would be apt for standalone resolvers, and have been advised that for AC servos with resolvers connected to the drives, it isnt suitable.
After further reading into the manuals, we have reason to believe there's resolver to digital converters in the drives for the resolvers, which produce absolute position and velocity outputs as "10-bit to 16-bit unsigned binary word and twos complement word respectively", I'm not entirely sure what that refers to, but this is as per a datasheet of general RDC's.
With this in mind + I confirmed the drives can be controlled via +-10V analog signals, what card combination can be used for feedback and control here?

I see, so 7i49 is meant for standalone resolvers yes?
also in that case could you let me know what combination I can try?
my teammate on this project has requested the same information on another thread, along with some other documents and images that might help
forum.linuxcnc.org/30-cnc-machines/31792...1-retrofit?start=150

we're both interns working on this project with no experience, completely fresh to the field, so help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
