Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

I think I'm not far from the goal?
Does anyone have a config file for functional linuxcnc 3 axes?

Check that drive wiring, probably wired step or dir wires to enable input.

scurve trajectory planner

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

@Coyote,

Great news. Just some clarification: is this planner based on your work or it is based on Ruckig Lib with user @Beef : "That's why Grotius and I have decided to start this new project ...." ?

The planner is not based on Ruckig Lib. And Beef is still in contact with us.
Beef has done his Master Degree in the mean time.

The intention once was to use the Ruckig lib. Ruckig is not free in use when you want to calculate trajectory waypoint's,
want to use endvelocity's at waypoints etc.

To overcome this problem, we use our own scurve implementation based on science paper.'s
And the scurve code is open source and free to use.

It just runned a test bench at Julian's place for 13 hours without any conflict.

I just remember lots of discussion around build your own last fall and went off some of the instructions in there... either which way, its a "home brew" and I'll give the official image a go.

As you might have guessed already I just downloaded the wrong file. Now you can say that you pointed me on that with your last comment. But since my linux knowledge is limited (told you so) I just needed you to tell me again to realize my mistake :-)
Anyways it runs just fine now - thx for your help :-)

Index homing Mesa 7i96s

Yes, this firmware should work (though would need to be modified to add the fourth axis index input)

Hi Peter,
My boards arrived a while back and now, finding some time to dive into this - my first ever - Lcnc install. To recap, I have a 7i96s and the new 7i84u but I am looking to use the servos index pulse for homing. Now, the question is, is there a FW which has both the daughterboard plus the index pulse functionality included? Or would I have to somehow add the 7i84u manually and how would I go about that?

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Hi
Please ignore the last post.......The test-gui isn't so happy with the idea of modbus, but I have all 16 ins and 16 outs using the N4D3E16 working under Linuxcnc!!!!

Very Happy.

Thank you again Olli for such a great system.

Attached is my .json file for reference. This file has only really been used for configuring modbus, at this stage. Tomorrow I will try and configure it for using 2 modbus cards on separate addresses.

Regards

Andrew

What you were trying to boot a RPi5 with a amd64 image ?

Of course I provided the RPi5 checksum, why wouldn't I, this is a thread for the RPi5. The checksum will only work when used against a file, not a mounted file system, the checksum is for the compressed image file.

Am I missing something here ?

Thank you for your help, please notice my linux knowledge is limited so my answers may sound stupid :-). Anyways
cat /proc/device-tree/compatible | tr '\0' '\n'
returned:
raspberrypi, 5-model-b
brcm, bcm2712

The checksum did not match, but the link you provided is for rpi-5-debian-bookworm - I used the linuxcnc_2.9.4-amd64.hybrid.iso

Anyways, I mounted Linuxcnc image under Ubuntu and all the checksums there matched when i used
sha256sum -c sha256sum.txt

2.93 Axis (for now will explore other GUI's when I have everything sorted out)

This is a great strategy!
I think in the machine menu, there is a homing menu for each axis but I don't have a sim handy to check.

For those interested in Tilted Work Plane implementation on 5axis machines with work side rotation see:
forum.linuxcnc.org/show-your-stuff/55248...utating-table-rotary

Note that this covers also non-nutating kinematics (just set the nutation angle to 90°) and covers BC as well as AC table configurations (adjust 'table-angle' between 0..90°)

Here is an example from a recent config I did.
HOME_OFFSET = 8
HOME_SEARCH_VEL = 10
HOME_LATCH_VEL =  10
HOME_FINAL_VEL =  5
HOME_USE_INDEX = NO
HOME_IGNORE_LIMITS = YES
HOME_SEQUENCE = 1

Back to your points, 3 & 4 happen very quickly as it only backs up far enough to clear the switch so it is probably working fine
If you are going the wrong way at the end, invert the sign of FINAL_VEL
HOME_OFFSET defines the final position, in this case 8mm from the switch to give a safe margin. Sometimes I will use 0.5mm or similar if travel is limited.
