Designed a PCB using 0603 caps & resistors........stupid me didn't change the pad size to suit hand soldering. Luckily it was only like $6 or $7 dollar mistake.

Thought about building a PnP machine......last thing I need is another side project.

We established a cooperation with UPS for truck/road transport what hopefully will reach more destinations with a lower cost.
Unfortunately is only valid for shipments inside the Euro zone.
For outside the eurozone we currently we only offer DHL express - that works very good, but not inexpensive.

Yeah I've seen that optocoupler thing quite a few times in schematics.

Does the cable go one to one all 25 pins, they might have sent a serial cable.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get the PC onto a workbench, no matter how much of a PITA it is.

Hi everyoneI have a long initialization of Ethercat on a machine with 7 inovance SV660N servo drivers. I tried different Servoperiods. Sometimes some servo drivers do not initialize - they remain in PreOP. What could be the reason? Maybe someone has encountered this?

We might have a bad cable lads.

I made up this connected to 13 12 11 directly on the card.

And using the port test app on 0xec00 with the sun1888 installed the ports go to ground when touched to the chassis

this does not happen when the same home made plug is connected at the end of the cable.

Something is screwed up with the cable for sure if it should be straight through

I had a version of the Ethercat hal driver there which the Linuxcnc ISO installer used until the etherlab guys started hosting it.

Finally had a try at putting stuff on YouTube so I don't mess up the LinuxCNC area so much. It's very much a novice start since i don't know much about it. Pretty raw videos, but I just wanted to see if I could explain stuff and encourage folk to resurrect the old machines. A few plugs to go to LinuxCNC in there. I don't even know how to name it in a way it might be found. If you hunt for "resurrecting a Maho MH 700 C"  you might find it. I've tried to set up a playlist so the videos can be watched in order, but it doesn't seem to work all that well. To my surprise some folk have found it and watched some of it! Ideas on how to do it better would be welcome. There are a couple of other playlists I'd like to do once on a roll. One on my "bat cave" as my great nephew calls it, and another on a rare Topolino I'm restoring that has been put aside due to Covid, then the Maho. I think there is a rule on "mens sheds" that if you make it N in area it needs to be 2 x N no matter how big N is.

For your machines, you cut the steel plates for your machine's yourself and do hydraulic press bending the sheet metal too yourself?
What could be the reason  the business is quiet?

The line I have is

but the latest is the "+15.3" waiting for me to upgrade.
Overall it is linuxcnc 2.9

I fought the UNMATCHED messages for my system.
It is caused by the network interface being...not fast enough for lack of better words.
Intel network adapters have always worked well for me.
Realtek adapters are almost always an issue
and some tweaks are needed. rodw has documented some of that.
 

My scales have a marking showing where the index pulse should be (Referenzmarke), you can see that in the photo below. They are all close to the end.
 

Regarding my own interpolators, I already made a design change that makes the crowbar less sensitive to component values. I forgot to mention the in the previous post.

Do you vre have a thread about your machine? It would be interesting to see.

I have attached most of the configuration files and the components (the lubricator component in the previous post). The main "logic" and connections are in custom.hal. The geartrain component is naturally for handling the gearbox (18 speed), and the maho_spindle mainly to handle VFD communication (and verifying that communication is working). The idea at least for the geartrain and lubricator component is to keep them so generic that they could be used for other machines without or with little modification.

 
 
 
 
 

That's a very nice offer. I'll see how we go with troubleshooting. I still feel like I am doing something dumb.

Can you helpful people answer a noob question for me. Are all parallel/DB25 cables straight through? or do they flip? I am a little young to have used they for printers of modems back in the day. My understanding was a null modem cable is the one with the flip and others were straight through.

I purchased two cables for my CNC for Aliexpress the They were meant to be one male end and one female end. However they sent me the wrong cable for one of them it was female both ends. This incorrect cable is what I am using for this Breakout board from the PCI card. I soldered two DB25 male plugs back to back to make a gender changer.  I have used my multimetre's continuity on the cable and it appears to go straight through. 

Would this potentially be an issue?  The other male female cable works perfectly correctly.  As it is currently it is very difficult to undo the cable for the built in port on the motherboard so I haven't physically switched the cables over.  I have tested at the end of the cable and found no voltage changes at one stage even going pin by pin.  However this was when I was still battling the HAL file settings it is possible I had something incorrect there also. 

I suppose testing at the port will very quicky clear up if that is the issue. 

Yes its a catchall that should be at the end.
I think I added warning and critical after the others and didn't think of the logic.
