Now that you read the above and gained a strong desire to type some strong words, hold on:
I consider myself absolutely more American than most Americans
I consider myself absolutely more German than most Germans
I Consider myself absolutely more Czech than most Czech's
I would like to say the same thing for most of Europe's countries, but i am not allowing that to myself due to not being familiar with their language/culture/way of life, etc, as good as i would like to.
And, I am absolutely pissed off at all of them for allowing their countries to become a joke in the global theater of ....
Political enough? :)

I refuse to become an American, despite being granted citizenship or whatever that was! :)
Not just Americans, all people have those types of frustrating nonsense, like abnormal obsession with farts (ooops again Americans :) ), minding other people's business (my people), refusing to work for a good pay because "the owner is making millions on our back, he can not make those mills without me" (again my people), etc etc, it is a very long list.
And i can do pretty much the same thing with all the languages i can use, it's just i use US English the most, so i started there.
Not that i am fixing anything...
Hererunterfahren = German for "shut down" , translated it means " here under drive " ?!?!?
Ohhh here come the Germans ... and Austrians and Switzerland and maybe a small part of France, i better go hide :)

Dumb American here. I park my truck in the driveway and drive on the parkway. I guess there are now 3
things that can get heated in conversations. Politics, Religion, and Language. LOL

Super cool, I just purchased the same servos/drivers for my mill conversion. This thread will be really useful once I get them and can start setting them up. Regarding tuning, I believe you can just use leadshine's motion studio software as they show it being used to configure the T6 servo in one of their videos (
). Like many of their products, I believe they are licensing leadshine's tech.
For the cabinet, are you planning on using 1 contactor and line filter per motor as is shown in the manual or 1 of each for the entire cabinet?

I'm using a single contactor for all 4 drives and at this point I don't have a filter installed, however after doing some research, I will probably add a single one sized for all drives.

Errors with G code for Qtpalmac

Category: Fusion 360

Hi,
Not sure if I should have posted in the plasma or Fusion section - but thinking my problem maybe with post processor being used.
I have one CNC machine with Linux router and QTplamac setups on it. I am using Fusion 360 free version for CAD/CAM
Have only upgraded to the Qt version a few months ago, so have not cut many objects. V2.9-238.314.  Until now I have not had problems with files opening or being the correct shape.

This error will not let me open the file.
Operator error:
G-Code error in --file name.ngc
Near line 27 of
/tmp/emcfit-kh43m4p_d/..file name.ngc
Radius to end of arc differs from radius to start:
Then it gives start, center and end location details.

I tried modifying the model in about the location in error. When trying this new file it reported same type of error but in a different location.
(I can make a plywood cut out of the same model using the route program with out any problems)

Just as a test I modeled a L shaped plate by drawing 2 rectangles and radius the corners (not all radius the same size)
It opened the file without showing a error window, BUT the object had one incorrect radius. It was bigger than required but looked as if trying to  start at the correct point. Radius went out bigger than rectangle drawn.

If I open previous files I have used and they open okay.

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Trevor Watchorn

The A6 are allegedly rebranded Inovance sv660N and not Leadshine as the T6. Might work anyways though!

EDIT: Motion studio seems to only work with RS232...

I'm honestly undecided at this point how I will proceed with homing.
Since these have absolute encoders I'd like to just do instant homing and get battery boxes to maintain position data.
I will still need to do an initial sensor homing so LCNC has a reference to start from.
I did tinker a bit with the custom homing component mentioned elsewhere here on the forum but shelved that idea for the moment till I got the physical install part complete.
For IO's I'm using a couple Beckhoff modules.

Gotcha, yeah I forgot to order the battery cables... but maybe it's possible to add an external battery to the drive somehow. It would also be really cool if it was possible to do sensorless homing with these, maybe possible with the torque feedback somehow?

Anyways, I managed to use the DI5 pin of the servo as a probe input. I'll post the files here as a reference for anybody that might be interested. I did change the C04_10 DI5 function selection to 0(no definition) if that matters. Keep in mind I have no idea what I'm doing :) ChatGPT and rodw's code here helped quite a bit!

Ok thx :) then i will just run it as a "normal" plc with I/O outputs from the ek1100 to control the transmission :) thx

Does 7i76e + 7i78 + 7i85 need a custom bin file?

Category: Basic Configuration

That looks correct (and indicates a 7I76+7I78 configuration)

all of my test nets stay low whether or not I apply 5v to the pins.

That is expected as the input must be >60% of the field voltage to be recognized.

Here is 7i76e firmware for a 7I78 on P1 and 7I85 on P2:

caxis.comp - How to freewheel axis/spindle?

Category: HAL

Attached is block diagram showing a spindle orient example. I also attached the hal netlist.PID, limit2, offset, … etc parameters values are not complete, you will need to figure them out as you experiment.

@Benb -

Thank you for the comments.

I already have orient working on my subspindle, and generally understand how it works and fits with other LCNC functions.

The problem with trying to combine orient with caxis.comp (attached in the first post) is that the caxis.comp functions are 'in charge' of the spindle motor at all times, except when a spindle-on command is issued.  When the spindle is stopped, C-axis takes over and the PID ferror returns the spindle position to the last position prior to the M3/M4.

I don't know this for a fact, but I think what would happen is a race condition where once the spindle-off signal is triggered, but before orient.comp is engaged, caxis.comp will 'take over' the spindle and return it to the original position.

Meaning orient.comp wouldn't be useful to get the spindle close enough after freewheeling and before re-engaging the c-axis.

If Aciera's unhoming python comp doesn't work, and PCW's doesn't either, I will likely revisit orient.comp.

As far as i can tell, there is no pilot arc there, at least not the conventional ones.
Do a test and fire the torch in mid air, does it spark? Meaning without touching material or clamp.
If not, it is a scratch start so requires dragging the torch on the material to start, and if this is the case, not suitable for CNC use.
There might still be an option but it would require programing a component and testing on an actual machine. The component would have to intervene after the torch went down and found the material then do a short wiggle/circle while going up to pierce height, and also the firing of the torch should be done when the material is detected, so before the usual start at pierce height.

About PLC and synchronization (+introduction)

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Thanks.

Yes, I don't need ladder (not even familiar with it), or even structured text.

I just have some M codes that are really specific and it's just a bunch of 'wait this bit', 'set target position to...', 'wait axis in position', 'set that variable', and I'm unable to think of any reason for that to be synchronized with servo-thread.

Welcome,
Just to get this out of the way, LinuxCNC has it's own implementation of PLC called "Classic ladder", in case you missed it, and as far as i know works perfectly fine in regards to synchronization with other real time stuff, but i never used it so i can not insist on it.
And i absolutely agree with you on Siemens. But considering they had 480000 strong work force at one point in time, organizing them is a huge logistical nightmare.
