Hello,
I've been waiting for this feature for a long time and I'd like to test it out. Is it compatible with Debian 10 + LinuxCNC v2.8.4?

SolidWorks for makers, post processor for LinuxCNC?

Category: Post Processors

If the NC Shop Floor program has some default post processors, try any of them designed for Fanuc controls. Those have been working for me on different CAM software so maybe it will work for you. Sometimes you need to edit something in the code but it's usually just in the setup code or similar.

Yeah, forgot to mention that, most WiFi i have do not work with this kernel, while they all work with 4.9.n and 6.8.n RT kernels.
Did not bother with why at all, as i can reboot and choose the generic kernel where everything works.
Adding this to original post, thank you for reminding me.
Edit
Also added how to get to GRUB to choose the generic kernel in the original post.

Looks like you have a good ol' gearbox to change the spindle speed.

Be sure to not set the spindle speed too high to avoid overloading the motor.

Big induction motors are very expensive.

You have to replace the spindle belt; it's very old and worn.

Plus it only costs like $9

Beware that, due to being made of steel and cast iron, the lathe is vulnerable to temperature fluctuations.

Keep it in a conditioned or at lease semi-conditioned space.

Nice machine.

Old, but good and reasonably well-maintained (I've seen some really poorly maintained machines).

I should also add that the motor test doesn't do anything on any of XYZ.

With the dongle in, try running Driver Manager.

Look at www.fosslinux.com/134500/how-to-install-...rs-on-linux-mint.htm
It covers Wi-Fi drivers.

Update:

So I found the file ADDING_A_MESA_CARD.md and studied it carefully. There isn't really all the information needed but I studied several boards comparing the entries in private_data.py and user manuals for the respective boards. After a great deal of trial and error I finally managed to get pncconf to accept it and add the 7i95t to the list of choices. I can select it and hit the Accept Component button and it seems to digest it and adds the tabs as defined. Everything goes well and I click Done and it creates the directory and files for linuxcnc. The bad news is that something is still not right. I entered all the data in the tabs but when I try to run linuxcnc I get this error. I should also note that I used mesact to program/verify that 7i95t_d firmware was installed on the board.

Debug file information:
Note: Using POSIX realtime
./plasmac.hal:10: parameter or pin 'hm2_7i95t.0.watchdog.timeout_ns' not found
3832
3842
Stopping realtime threads
Unloading hal components
Note: Using POSIX realtime

So I've tried many iterations and tried both Axis and QTplasmac (which is the whole objective of this) GUIs but I always get the same error. I also tried just using all the defaults with only 3 stepgens defined (XYZ) putting the correct information in for the Stepper Info and Stepper Scale. Still the same error.

So my next thing to look at is the .ini files created my mesact (with Axis) and files created by pncconf (with Axis) to see if I can get a clue on how to address this error.

So close yet so far .....

Thanks for you time, help and consideration.

Mike

Does jogging the axes work?

Like do the existing motors work?

Can you home each axis?

Does the location displayed on-screen correspond with the actual, physical location?

After few years i'm slowly gatherig new stuff to make comeback to linuxcnc.
Generally i'm little bit affraid to getting back my small and lost knowledge ;)

Now i got some sort of problem. Trying to get my WiFi dongle work after installing mint.
On Live this dongle works, but after instaling Mint on my M720q Mint shows on Advanced network connections WiFi (with known my network which i've provided during instalation from LIVE).
But on taskbar it only shows Ethernet.

I was beginning to think the same thing. This latest string is very very specific to a particular Maho and not really about taking it to LinuxCNC. I've put stuff where I think it may be use already and I can see nobody looks at it. Maybe you guys can suggest where and how? It's basically a dead area except for people resurrecting these old machines on LinuxCNC. Good Mahos and Deckels that cost hundreds of thousand dollars are going for less than $5K. Interestingly Tormach has shifted from Mach 3 to LinuxCNC for their machines, so it's really active. Heidenhain's position there is the really nice encoders that some of these machines have.
CNCzone and Practical Machinist are spotty. Heidenhain TNC programming with Valter Isander Valter Islander has a good Facebook page dedicated to keeping all Heidenhain controllers going. But unfortunately I have to say that for ones as old as mine linuxCNC is a better option. While my TNC 155 is remarkably good for its age. It's really the ability to accept programs through it's serial port that is keeping it alive. And Fusion 360.
Cheers,
David
