7i95t firmware brick because i flashed a 7i95 bitfile in the fallback

Category: Driver Boards

thanks for the fast response PCW!

for my understanding!?
1)flashing the firmware to the fpga using the infinty software and the ftdi4232 jtag interface.
am i flashing to the fpga ram (Volatile Memory)? after power loss, the firmware is gone right?

2)write the firmware to the fallback and the eeprom (is it a part of the fpga? or is it an external eeprom on the 7i95t?)

mesaflash --device 7I95T --fallback --write FPGAFILE.BIN
mesaflash --device 7I95T --write FPGAFILE.BIN

after writing the .bin file it should be permanently saved to the storage and the 7i95t should work porperly again after power loss?

the ftdi4232 mini should be deliverd on friday, i'll give it some trail and error then :)

Connecting to FANUC αi-B βi-B (62XX) series servos to LinuxCNC system?

Category: Driver Boards

Two moments:
1. My target is B series Fanuc.
2. How to control with new protocol? Mesa? Connected to original Fanuc adater?

Can the stepgen LPT work in conjunction with the mesa card?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

And what does it matter?
if you still have a problem, upload the configuration files. Most likely something wrong with them.

Unfortunately the VFD is a special construction from Paulimot (Paulimot F207-V). I have to take a closer look insight the machine if it is possible to use ferrite beads.

Propably for better understanding I added the wiring diagram of my relays:

Yellow marked are the contacts that are provided by the Mesa 7i76. The TB6_OUT_Pin03 switches +12V when spindle is activated in LinuxCNC.

I made 2 tests:
- When disconnecting Pin03 and using 12V directly from power supply, there is no problem with the mouse.
- When using Pin03 (activated) and then stopping the spindle with stop switch (in the middle) the mouse is also Ok.

On the left side the 2 red cables at the bottom are connected with the internal VFD.

I already ordered a SSR and will test it the next days. And I will have a look inside the VFD.

Thanks for the reply.

I added the code in the linked tutorial, does that bind it to a specific pin? It looks like the last line (below) assigns it to pin10? should I change this to the pin i have mine currently wired to?
net remote-estop estop-latch.0.fault-in <= parport.0.pin-in10-not
The video so far is very informative and ill use it as a reference when im out working on it tomorrow but no info on how to daisy chain them. I assume since they're NC i can just wire them in series to one input pin? or is that a no-no?

Can the stepgen LPT work in conjunction with the mesa card?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Yes, You can do that. I have my old LPT machine were two steppers are still on the old "as is" Chinese beakout board. (z-Axis stepper driver died recently, so I moved that to Mesa as well)
One stepper (now two) , the Spindle, the Spindle Encoder and the MPG (handwheel are handled with the Mesa Card)

Greetings Timo

p.s. the simple reason for the "Frankenstein" was that I was too lazy to re-wire all the steppers and had no documentation for the stepper driver interface, so I kept the running 3 axis config and only added the "new functions, (damaged functions) to to the Mesa card.

Was it PCI or ethernet mesa, and what version of linux cnc?

How do I configure the connection of two mesa 7i92 via ethernet?

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I installed a second LAN in the computer. Linux cnc starts with two boards if they are on different networks and the initialization of the boards in the hal takes place in a certain order (apparently it has something to do with the order of the LAN addresses).

one step closer

definitely needs a servo with a brake though. designed a little adapter.

Alternate atc option. this might be the one we end up with. best mix of simplicity, being out of the work area and holding 10 tools.

holy shit I am not sure why they made this so hard

Yeah, these are mostly themed widgets so some options require setting via styles. It can be a PITA.

I want to increase the size of the text and icons

It seems to need an update for the first run, the below bigfileopen.tcl touches every widget in the dialog and includes the update.
Warning: Spoiler!

Home / Soft Limits - Not homing before moving axis(s)

Normally, you would touch off using a G54 at the vice position. It should remember that.

The better way is to use estop_latch. There is a tutorial here
forum.linuxcnc.org/47-hal-examples/25861-external-e-stop
it is possible to daisy chain multiple estop_latch components together but its not documented anywhere
I found drawing a diagram of the connections helps to work it out.
Here is  video which may be useful

holy shit I am not sure why they made this so hard. they are using a different font class
for changing the font size in the file menu -
rC('font','configure','TkIconFont','-family', fontName, '-size', fontSize)
rC('font','configure','TkTextFont','-family', fontName, '-size', fontSize)

for posteriority heres how I got there. fbox takes the files and makes them into an Iconlist, which then uses the font family TkIconFont to configure this megawidget "Iconlist"

I thought it was odd that some of the widgets configured to our textsize and font but some did not. Its the same case for the entry widget that loads the file name. The colours dont change for most widgets unless you change the colour after you open, and even then only some widgets configure. The options in the listbox configure colour but none of the other text changes colour.

nawaf are you using regularmac800? that will make this easier. you can just add those 2 lines, or get the update from the github.

unfortunately this doesnt make it a better file browser. there are some alternative ones i want to try out when i figure out how

First Start Up - E Stops

Hi Friends,

Not sure this is the right place for this but here we are. I just about finishing transitioning my Queenbee Pro ( Link ) from mach 3 to LCNC with the help of a mesa 7i96s card. I have been following  this guide  as much as made sense and was able to get through the setup. My intent was to get though the setup then tune everything in once i am sure it all works. I am building a tangential cutter with a servo motor as the cutting head so i went with an XYZA setup and didn't include a spindle.

Now that i am through the setup i use the new desktop shortcut to open and start to try and run the machine and i click the estop in the top right (gmocappy) and get the following message, "External ESTOP is set, could not change state!".

I have two e stops but one is configured in the pncconf as a custom input (was planning on putting them in series eventually or making the custom input an estop function if i can figure that out) and they're both NC. It doesn't go through any motors/drivers its simply ran from +24V Power Supply --> External Estop-->  Mesa Pin. Is this correct??

I am happy to provide any files or logs that can assist.
