When AC is rectified to DC, the no-load DC voltage is equal to the AC input voltage times the square root of 2.

120V AC RMS rectifies to about 170VDC.

Even though many stepper drives can accept AC power, they likely rectify it into DC power internally; if the rectifier in the driver is poor, performance will be sub-optimal.

If you build your own high-quality rectifier, you can be certain that it will function well.

What Operating System are you using? All modern Debian based OS's have python3.

never tried it, if you use it an have no issues i guess its fine.  the instructions are for a basic install, if users want to experient that is fine, we just don't support that type of experimentation, gets kind of cumbersome trying to anticipate and test every option so we leave that in the hands of the end user.

myself, I use syncthing for folder sharing and it works great, i have all of my pc's connected, windows and linux boxes and each has a folder for my posts which is where fusion360 sends the post outputs. they magically appear in the machines' post folder so no usb to worry with.

I added the missing entries to the var file and it solved the issue.

Given that Probe Basic is under active development with frequent configuration changes this got me thinking.

Would it be possible to create a pyhon script that is executed early in startup process and checks if all required Probe Basic specific configuration options are present?

That would alert users to missing configuration options after upgrades and when making new installations.

Adding support for different encoder protocols is possible.

And I'm looking at the moment at their Mitsubishi implementation, since I need multiturn for the robot. But there is no documentation of the protocol.

If you send me some details about the protocol and electrical parameters, I can look into it. But please open a separate topic or open a github issue, because I want to try to keep this topic as a instruction how to configure the drives.

Toroidal transformers are REALLY expensive.

If you replace the transformer with a switching power supply (which I do not recommend), keep or resell the transformer.

Thank you all, I have missed the HAL basic document somehow, the manual is really tough to start with. I have some questions related,

1 - Whats the difference between "lcec.0.OUT.dout-0" and "lcec.0.OUT.dout-0-invert" they have the same behaviour
2- I also have a EL 1809 that is rated as input current "typically 3 mA (EN 61131-2, type 3)" Is it usually considered a min or max data? can I feed it with more current or should I limit it?

I've installed LinuxCNC 2.9.3 on a Dell Optiplex 755 with Intel Pentium Dual-Core and on-board GPU.
GRUB is working fine, but I'm only able to boot with "nomodeset" option. Otherwhise the pc freezes with black screen, no switch to console possible, just hard switch of is able to get out.
Now with "nomedeset" I'm able to use the system, but with quite poor grafics. I'd be glad if someone could assist me in finding the issue and fix it.

I'm looking forward your suggestions to deep dive the issue.

Do NOT fix drift!
All analog servo systems will have a bit of drift at 0V input.
Wire the control, it takes care of it when encoders are in use.
